Mecahnical too, as well as a crash an oh a nice dash of Blonde ;-)

All I remember is rain, rain and rain = WET. Unfortunate fall for Steve and so many mechanicals. Oh well home now all dry and warm. :D

the off road CR today was just brilliant!

We got soaked and had a real blast. Great practising round yogurt pots, did it four times in increasingly poor conditions. Muddytastic!

Aodan and I set off from the volunteer pub and did pots twice before descending into Peaslake. Met Grahame and ceejay. Mug of coffee, cheese straw and then off we go again. Some touch climbing up rooty sections in v slippy sticky mud but we all made it back up the hill. Twice more round yogurt pots which were just a mud n goo bath in places - excellent fun.

Finished with a dash down telegraph. I made it down the big dip with the stump in the middle of the track for the first time. Next time no hesitating will be the goal. From there it was full bore down the steps flying through muddy puddles bouncing all over the place.

Aodan and I went back to the pub to wash our bikes and grab lunch whilst Grahame and ceejay headed back towards Peaslake.

Soaked through, covered in sandy mud and grinning. In weather like this I'm sold, there's only one kind of bike riding in the rain and mud, get yer mtb out :D 8)

Sean you are right, today's alternative had it all. I have never seen so many mechanicals, riders dropping early, a nasty fall and with some heavy rain and wind thrown in the mix. Great ride back from Brasted, it was a matter of head down and fight the side wind and rain. Ian, Dallas and I peeled off back towards the Ridge and back via Purley. Good ride all and hope you are not too sore Steve.

First time back with 18s, not too bad and Colin comfortably won the sprint. Mr Baylis gave a fantastic lead out on his fixie, in training for some masochistic event next year. On return latched onto Steve and co for a while but got dropped. Cardio/respiration OK but legs wouldn't respond. Ajay going well as was Amy. Actually by the end I felt that despite the weather it was quite a good run out. Cheers all

Roads must have been bad today - as I had a puncture in the soddin' car! Saw a couple of riders - one with ACC top - go past Sainsbury's Warlingham at around 12:45 whilst I was trying to get sorted. Got home OK and then got it repaired for FREE, thanks to the nice guys at Kwik Fit on Brighton Road.

Been a bad week for punctures - had one whilst on the turbo last week too. Wouldn't mind, but the bike has not been outside the house since July 2008!

I'm in agreement with you there Alan. Despite the weather I enjoyed my ride, left it till the last minute before heading out of the house as still only 70% over my cold. Good fun though and nice to see Dan G and AJ back with us. Dan still going really strong. Good ride down to the cafe with Steve B, Dan, Ed, Ben, AJ and co and gave AJ some stick and had a good laugh. Steve did me in the sprint on the line. Ride back was fun but very wet, trying to hold someones wheel at 30+ mph with so much standing water on the road was fun  Felt ok on the bike though, still not 100% but despite my cold I feel I'm getting back to where I was before xmas strength wise.

Cheers all. :D

Pah, I hung on as long as I could which wasn't very long. Still not back up where I was with the 19s. And I think there was a plot to drop me as soon as possible...

But otherwise, I agree it was a good ride. Felt hard work over to the start so I went with the 17s. Only 7 in the group who seemed to finding just as hard as me into that wind so I didn't feel so bad. Managed to inspire someone who was really struggling to hang on up to Partridge 8)

I can't believe I got that wet  Didn't bring my proper waterproof because I thought it was just showers but it didn't matter too much because - it wasn't COLD!!

Oh and my cold has now come out - I think it's a work colleague's: got most a sorely throat and blocked sinuses :|
