MTB Ride Saturday 3rd April

Postby Snoop Doug » Sun Mar 21, 2010 8:28 pm

Hi folks

I'm busy next weekend - so just testing the water for a possible Surrey Hills ride on 3rd April?

Probably a similar plan to yesterday, a 9am start @ the volunteer, make our way to Peaslake for around 10.30 to pick up anyone who appreciates a lie in. Back up into the hills and head to volunteer for lunch around 12.30.

Any takers?

Cheers - Snoop

I'll be there - most likely the 10.30 Peaslake pickup.

That's it, near enough. It's at the junction of Raikes Lane and Water Lane. That's for the 9.30 start.

The 10.30 start is at Peaslake Village Stores/Bus Stop.

Hi folks

Distant early warning

Keira has just been admitted to hospital after three days solid pukeathon. Oh, and my mtb isn't back from the menders yet.

Will know more tomorrow - I hope I can make it out but family first, bike second, trail riding third...

More news when I get it :(

Sorry folks - I shan't be coming out to play tomorrow. Keira is now back home but still not on great form. Oh, and I don't have an mtb, still @ menders.

I hope y'all enjoy a fun ride and will set a date for another real soon.

Happy Easter

Snoop - I'm really sorry that you can't make it, and hope Keira gets well soon.

I'm still heading for the 1030 Peaslake meet. Who else is definite (for either the 9am or the 1030)?

Yes, I did. I suspected I might be the only one, but really wanted to get out, and figured that I couldn't come to much harm so long as I stuck to the well-used trails.

The rain stopped right on 1030 and it got steadily brighter as the morning went on. Went up Holmbury Hill and down yoghurt pots - deep puddles everywhere and heavy mud in the middle section, but not enough to put me off going straight back up for another run. Then Telegraph - top section really muddy but the main bit was well drained and pretty fast. Up to Leith Hill tower via a mixture of swampy bridleway and the road, quick stop for the view and a hot cross bun, then back over for Barry's - slippery at first but mostly in good condition. Leaving me just enough time before my train to ... go back up and do Barry's all over again. Good fun, but I'll look forward to having some company next time!

Well done, that was a long ride to get over as far as Leith Hill in the same trip. It's always good to get out just as the rain stops, the air just seems fresher.
