Fingers crossed for the weather folks this is going to be a good one. As well as a number of top international track riders and the derny race there is going to be one very special event as part of this meeting, you really don't want to miss it :D .

i am right in thinking the "Grand Old Ordinary Challenge" translates as "Penny farthing carnage"?

I don't know how competitive, would you want to fall off one during an elbows out sprint  .

The special event I was referring to was actually the paracycling tandem sprint, I've never seen tandem sprinting live. I expect it's a bit calmer than it used to be and also due to the stoker being partially sighted or blind.

I always find tandem racing great to watch - this is from the 1982 Worlds at Leicester

Fingers crossed for the weather, the odd shower should be okay as the track dries quickly so would probably only lead to a bit of programme rejigging (drop a repechage or something). Kicks off at 1pm so I'll be there in a big coat :D . Hope to see a few of the Addiscombe Massive.

The british paracycling tandem team is being piloted by ex sprint and team sprint star Craig Maclean 8) .

Big fella but boy can he spin his legs quickly  :!:

Doesn't look like I can make it -- but I'll be at Rollapaluza in the Half Moon pub round the corner in the eve.

Did anything happen in the end? I had a day pass and rolled along there around midday clutching my admission fee. There was a very upbeat chap on the door suggesting that although we wouldn't see any racing at all we should pay in anyway to support the venue. I agreed in principle but in practice I continued on up to Oddbins in Dulwich Village and spent the money there instead.

We turned up about 1.15 while it was really peeing it down and wandered in without being asked for payment, so I guess they'd abandoned it by then. Wandered back out again and headed off for a nice pint of Wadworth 6X at the Half Moon before going home.

Sadly it had to be called off. I got there for 1 and it was peeing down, went to my brothers which isn't far away and then on somewhere else and it was still peeing down so I guessed that it would be called off. Heats ran in the morning but the main event was called off :( .
