Ride Sunday 18 April - gentle ride to Clandon

Postby Amy » Sun Apr 11, 2010 4:50 pm

I've got parental duties on Saturday so won't make the club run, so, I thought as the weather's getting nicer, how about an all day ride Sunday?

I fance heading over towards the tea gardens we found the other year over looking the Ashdown Forest on lots of lovely little lanes. If the tea gardens aren't open or don't suit there is also a garden centre with a cafe nearby.

Pace will that of the slowest, wait on the hills, etc - and while I mapread if I can't remember the route from last year when I went on my own...

If you don't want to make it an all dayer then feel free to join in on the way out and peel off when you want.

I forgot to mention - they do cream teas :D and there's peacocks, dogs and potentially ponies too wondering about the garden and a pile of dogs on a garden swing :D

It's very tempting. If I can find a reason why I can't go to the in-laws, I can do the club run and a Sunday ride. If I can't find a reason then I'll be in North Wales.

you don't like them because they smell or you are afraid of dragons or leeks give you bad wind or you cannot understand their lingo or .....

If none of those work let me know, I've got some more.

Sorry, Jon, only cream teas and some basic sandwiches are actually on the menu.

Hope you can make it, Phil. It's a lovely ride and sitting in the garden looking out over the Ashdown is very restful :D

Anyone else?

I thought it might be nice, especially if the weather's good, meeting at the car park top of Farthing Down 9.15ish. It's just round the corner from CSS (and you can take your own time up the hill...)

Hope you have a few folk out Amy, looks like a good ride. A nice all dayer and the long range forecast looks good, even looks good for silly o'clock which will be nice from my point of view.

I know this is going disappoint all those looking forward to this lovely ride... but I think I'm going down with a cold - which judging by the state of the person I probably caught it from, could be a good one...

So I may still ride but it might be shorter than intended; maybe to Clandon instead

There is no such thing as woman flu, so we don't want to hear any excuses just an all day ride on Sunday.

Well I have found that I am free on Sunday. However, my back is playing up - feels OK when riding, feels bad after. A gentle ride would be just the thing.

You are very welcome to join me. Hope to see you Sunday - if there's any problems I'll post on here Saturday night...

Probably looking at about 50-60 miles.

Marcus, I said I had a cold, not the female equivalent of man flu - as you point out there is no such thing as woman flu...

Well, viruses and suchlike are always a problem for highly trained athletes.

Where and when? CSS isn't exactly on the way for either of us.

I plan to take the boy out for a pootle around the lanes tomorrow to see if cycling aggravates my back. We may even show up at the cafe.

I've pm'd you my tel nos, Phil!

But I forgot to put a time - how about 9.30? I still like the idea of meeting at the top of Farthing Down especially if it's going to be a nice, sunny day like today.

Anybody else? Still nice lanes but in places that you wouldn't really expect them as we're skirting the edges of the edges of London (back of places like out of Hooley and Guildford/Woking at the furthest).
