Marshalls for Crystal Palace Tue 27 April

Postby Tamar » Fri Apr 09, 2010 2:38 pm

This is always a nice one to do 'cos it's:

Interesting to watch - short closed circuit so riders coming past all the time
Easy to get to either by bike or on train
At 6.30pm not 6.30am
All over by sunset so home in time for tea.

We need about a dozen marshals for this one, please stick your name down here or pm me.

Oh, and if anyone can take over the organising of marshals please let me know 'cos I'm double booked and meant to be playing in a concert that evening... . It's a v easy job. On the night you just need to tick off who's in attendance so they can get their fiver's marshalling money and then liaise with the race organiser to get people bibbed up and in place for the race.

Ta v much.

I can marshall at this one, and if nobody else can do it, I'll probably be ok to tick off the "Giz a fiver" list as well.

I may be up for marshalling this rather than racing it, as I don't generally like the first few races at CP whilst people are getting refamiliar with the course (also due to lack of race fitness this year, due to lack of training!)

Count me in for marshalling and also for a beer in one of CP's many boozers afterwards!

Splendid! Thanks for your offers of help. We'll put 12 around the course and any extra on the finish line to help with the judging....there were 200 riders at Palace last week!!!!

There's still room for a couple more helpers if anyone else is available...particulraly with the judging.

On my list of helpers so far are:

Me
Grahame Baker
Brian Nolan
John M
Phil Hawkes
Jon Hemming
Ben
Roy Green
Jean Green
Kieran (plus 2 small helpers)
Mark F
Marcus
Elliott
Mark McLaughlin

Dominic (provisional)

Haven't done this before or been to a CP race.
Can someone therefore tell me where to go what time to get there and who to report to.
Thanks

If you go up Anerley Hill and then turn in to the park from there, follow the road round to the car parks and go straight on to the park and through the gate. You are now on the top bit of the circuit and the grassy bit is where people will be. You should spot an ACCer easily enough and then help will be at hand :D .

Hi folks

Weather forecast is looking nice for this evening but do bring something warm to put on for the ride home - it can get chilly when the sun sets. You might want to bring some bug-repellent too - there's often a few little blood-suckers buzzing around.

Please arrive by 6.30 - that gives us time to hand out marshal jackets and get everyone in position for 6.45 race start.

I'm going to take the two ACC flags and if the CP organisers don't mind me putting them up you'll be able to spot those easily enough and we can congregate by them.

see you later

Hill? Maybe I should've driven.

Marcus - are you riding there? I am and will be leaving East Croydon about 5:30 or something to give me time to get lost, puncture, break a chain etc.

I'm hoping to get out early from work to come and offer some support. I want to eye up the course too as I may enter a race here soon....

Who's racing tonight for ACC?

Obviously, if I can get down tonight I don't mind helping out.

Not sure Phil, I was intending to but feel a bit unwell at the mo so may drive.
