My view exactly. If it's that important to people that they have to kick up a fuss when the stations close, why can't they get off their backsides and get down there early or vote by post.
Working for local government, it was some of my colleagues manning the stations and having to put up with this kind of rubbish from the general public.
Same old, lazy people kicking up a fuss and shifting the blame onto someone else. Pretty much the problem with this country as a whole!!!

Jesus wept, guys!!!     Had you thought that they work, have a job, commute?? I get into work at 7.30 and get home at 7.30.There are millions like me. Last night was bad for democracy. A disgrace. People queued for hours. Some polling stations ran out of ballot papers.People were angry and had a right to be angry. I would have been.

So do I. Doesn't then take two and a half hours to get to the polling station. And most of those effing and blinding about not been allowed to vote looked like they'd spent the last few hours blowing their giros in the boozer.
Voting, like jury service, should be restricted to tax-paying property owners licensed to own shotguns :D

and when you get there presumably force yourself yourself to the front of the two hundred or so people in the queue whilst waving your shotgun about.

I can now see why you don't think it's a problem

I work for a council and understand the queues were caused by loads of people not bringing their poll cards.

We havnt had a chance to vote on most of the major changes to our country in the last few years anyway so its all a bit irrelevant voting now.

[quote="Tony"]Running out of ballot papers is pretty embarrasing. But not as embarrasing as when I ran out of toilet paper in my hotel room recently and had to phone reception for some more. I'm sure the receptionist found it hilarious....

I certainly did

ahh yes, the usual panic-inducing scare story playing on the average punter's inumeracy, who will probably poop himself at the belief that of a 2 out of 3 risk of heart attack.
According to the American Heart Association, a mid-forties non-smoking, non-diabetic, normal weight male with normal blood pressure has a 1% chance of a heart attack in the next 10 years. Factor in cycling, healthy eating etc and you're looking at let's say 0.5%. ie 1 chance in 200, or 200 to 1 against, for we middle-aged Agreeables. These are twice the odds the bookies were giving on Monday night of Blair becoming the next PM. Yes, not Brown, but Teflon Tony. Or what you'd likely get for Ernie the Milkman's horse winning the Grand National.
So, your base risk is 0.5%. increase that by 60% and you are on 0.8% risk, or 125 to 1 against, ie rank outsider's odds.
Bottom line, keep putting the hours in, at work, and on the bike :D
