[quote="Bridget"]I hope my riding into his head and then falling on top of him didn't contribute to the injuries too much.

I know I know, I shouldn't.

[quote="Marek"]Are we having another round of naff road surfacing. It seems as though the councils are doing the same as last year and just throwing down a load of stones and calling that resurfacing. I just don't understand the benefit of what they do as all that happens is the holes get harder to see and you have a load of gravel to slip on. What happened to good old black tarmac, or is the deficit too great for such an expense.

Hope you get better soon Sam, from the pictures it doesn't look too bad, just a pain to keep clothing from sticking to your side. Best advice is to leave the wound on your side open to the elements as much as possible. So just walk around the house with no pants on as it will dry up quicker. I found that Vaseline was quite good to put on the wound if I was going to be putting material over the top, although someone else mentioned to me that it wasn't the best thing to do.

Cheers

Marek.....

Thanks, Marek - East Surrey A and E were brilliant - they covered him with hydrcolloid dressings for most of the road rash - shoulders etc, mepilex dressing for his hip, and Mepitel dressing for the cut on his chin - so I guess the latest thinking is cover up the wounds rather than walking around naked, which is a shame. Their advice for road rash wounds etc - take some ibuprofen, get to A and E ASAP. Much better than to treat at home. They have the technology! :D

...unless of course you have a big box of hydrocolloid dressings at home like what I've got! :)

[quote][My apologies to the guy who got dropped on the way out and seemed to spend the rest of the ride down to the cafe on his own. I was told you'd been struggling to stay on and as there was probably another group not far behind you'd be picked up by them. Felt even worse when you said your seatpack had broken too...

I was that guy :D No problem - quite pleased that I managed to stay ahead of the 3rd 18s group! Glad to hear Sam's injuries are not too serious -

Don't worry, we were going some too, though I'd clocked the average up to the crash site as 18.5mph (and we were right on the tail of the first group). Anyway, glad you're OK - well done for keeping ahead of the next group.

[quote="Marcus"][quote="Amy"]Marcus, are you typing under the influence of something?

No-one's mentioned the TG incident - please try and look where you're going and signal for obstacles. I was right at the back yet saw the runner and signaled her way before we got to her, but riders further up narrowly avoided mowing her down.

Positive thing is she may think about running on the correct side of the road from now on (towards traffic) ..
