Many thanks for your entry to the Addiscombe CC 3-up 25.
Unfortunately, this event has not proved popular and despite distributing over 200 fliers at 2 time trials and a road race, only 5 team entries were received (and the promise of 3 more) by the closing date - Tuesday 18 May 2010.

It is with regret that we have taken the unpopular decision to cancel the event. This has been agreed after discussion with CTT London South.

I am sure you will appreciate that given the efforts required on behalf of the promoter, marshals etc that to arrange all of this would mean that more helpers than riders would be giving up their time and travel and expense. In addition, the associated costs of running the event, hall hire etc would mean that the club would be making a loss even if there were NO prizes!!

I really would like to reiterate that as a promoter, this is not something that I have come across before, and it was a very difficult decision to take that was not a personal one, but one that has involved a lot of people within Addiscombe Cycling Club and the London South CTT Committee.

I am truly sorry to have to have to disappoint you willing entrants, but I hope that you appreciate the reasons behind the decision, will accept my sincere apologies.

A shame as I was looking forward to it. I can only put it down to being the holiday weekend? I couldn't see any notable clashes in the handbook and TTTs are good fun, perhaps there's just too many who just want to chase their own PB everytime they get on the bike.

Shame but we shouldn't get too down about it. What can we learn that might make this happen next time? Not criticise, learn....just in case anyone's feeling sore

Andrew's point is interesting. Holiday weekend might not affect many solo riders but when you need to pull a team of three together those kind of diary hotspots are probably best avoided.

Prizes. Do we care if this event makes a loss? It might be good to go Vegas on the prizes to help drive participants to it. Hey it's not like we can't afford it, and we do speculate in other areas a bit (e.g. we're OK about losing money on the club dinner - again not a criticism just a point of comparison).

Maybe a race like this should come earlier in the season so folk aren't too far on their own case?

Shame - particularly for Paul that this didn't happen but we should try again in 2011 eh? Nice apology he sent out.
