Well that was a baptism of fire  .
First TT for me and if the truth be told, I didnt enjoy that at all. Didnt feel great from the off and by the time I finished I was about to throw up. Perhaps I should have eaten some food beforehand or paced myself a bit better....who knows. It is also pretty soul destroying to get over taken not by 1 but 3 riders  . Tough course? yes, but should have done better. Will I be back? Damn right I will.

Well done all and a special thanks to Tim, Marcus and Joyce for time keeping and marshalling.

Yeah that last climb to the finish does that to you. A very tough first course to do, although it was my first TT course too, and if I recall rightly it was snowing on the day!

Thanks to folks for the organisation of the TT last night. Didn't go as fast as I would have wished but I conciously started slowly. Really found it hard on the way back. It was the first time I had timed myself on that course racing and gave myself a bit of a fright when I got to the 'turn' in over 15 minutes. Didn't realise how much shorter the return leg was. Had a little chuckly to myself when I got home as my seat pin was an inch shorter than when I had left home originally.

Fantastic time by Adam. Obviously I was expecting to be caught as Adam was only a minute behind me. I was not expecting to be caught in about 4 miles if that. Very impressive to watch Adam, smooth and powerful. All the best on the weekend. 8)

Thanks Jon for organisation and thanks to all for the encouragement. I think I enjoyed it :P ...

...and now I know what to expect, with luck and a bit more effort timings can only get better-can't they?

Nothing but admiration for all you guys who completed 10.6Miles (according to my Garmin) in under 30 minutes - impressive stuff!

See you at the next one :D

Yep I was feeling like I could blow chunks at the 8mile point but kept crawling up those hills. My first ever TT and on a normal road bike. I'll be getting some aero bars and giving it another go in a few weeks.
Well done everyone and big thanks to the marshalls and organisers for setting this up.

Thank you to Jon for organising; Joyce and Tim for timing; Rob for pushing off; and Marcus for the very loud and enthusiastic marshaling :D .

A course PB for me as I've never ridden that course properly before last night - I've always started way too slow, and with the exception of Scott's Hill which is a bit of a nuisance it all went by relatively smoothly. Had a little panic when it wouldn't drop to the small ring just before the climb and thought I'd have to grind/grovel it but a quick half back pedal and it jumped down, phew. I should have gone a lot harder and out the saddle on the finishing climb and couldn't think why I didn't as I had enough left in the tank. Maybe I was thinking of the SCCU event and had a bit of a panic that I'd have to do a second lap  .

Well done to those who did this course for the first time last night, particularly those that did it as their first TT.

Oh and the new sections of resurfaced road were nice, should be lovely for the SCCU 21 next year.

An interesting counterpoint to the classic "don't start too fast, don't start ... etc" :

Therefore, you can go faster later on if you started slightly slower, but it still never made up for that lost time overall.

It's something I've done on that course before Sylv as I've always thought of the climbs as harder than they are and saved too much by not starting hard enough.

I've done a similar thing in a 100 which is why my time is rubbish, I've thought "don't start too fast you don't want to blow up in a 100" and consequently pootled off down the road at club run pace for the first 20 miles  .

If I'd started faster I might have got to Cooper's Hill before the Landcruiser and Beemer that got in my way going down the hill.
Still, a win's a win, even if only by a second (not counting 2nd claim wannabe pro's of course)
