From my experience of LEJOG - I'd say go for the full english - you will need it!

By the time to get to "JOG" you wll be burning more than you can eat! (I was anyway)!

Enjoy!

All the best,

Phil.

I'd just like to reiterate the bit about photos.
These are a requirement,I'm afraid. Otherwise we won't believe a word you say.

On a wet and windy Saturday morning the two intrepid LEGOGers set off at 09:45.

Certainly an unusual experience on the day at Land's End with a mixture of people doing the LEGOG on various machines; bicycles (of course), wheel chairs  , uni-cycle  , and Vespas that did not look very road worthy with last minute engine fixing going on (methinks that Steve and Jon will beat them there).

A group of four cyclists, who were setting off at a round the same time as Steve and Jon, were discussing the route and asked about their support vehicle (these four had a fully laden car with Sat Nav with two people to follow them on the route); Steve and Jon just pointed to their small saddle bags (about the size of a medium handbag) and the cyclists had nothing else to say - respect! 8) 8) 8)

I last saw them climbing up towards Redruth on the A30 in heavy rain :(

Update:
Have spoken to Jon this morning and thankfully where able to find a bike shop in Barnstable. The landlord from the B&B gave them a lift there and Jon was able to get a new wheel and tyre. :D So they are now on Stage 2 heading towards Chepstow, only a couple of hours behind. :)
Thanks for the pics Alex.

we set off from great Torrington after 11 when jon got his new wheel sorted
some seious climbs today and some stunning roads through Devon and parts of Somerset
underestimated the bit between Bristol and Chepstow which was a hell of a lot of slog
And didn't eat enough now fed watered and chilled

Wye valley tomorrow can't wait

Jon & Steve,

Good Luck to you both! I hope the good weather stays with you for the rest of the trip and more to the point I hope the wind is on your back. When I rode it last year with a mate, we spent only spent about 2% of it side by side as we tried to get out of the wind! I may have given him the occasional tow as well I guess ;-)

I hope you've got lots of chamois cream and don't forget to keep checking your tyres every night. Also use the excuse to stuff your face as you need the energy!

I look forward to hearing about the rest of your ride.

Marcus
