Ever had one of those days?

I'd entered this when I thought I was having this week off work, then work plans changed so the days off were cancelled. However, I thought I could still make it by driving to work and going striaght out to the events.

Got stuck in traffic jams on the A2 due to numpties crashing into each other, and arrived at the HQ with about 20 minutes before my start time. I was going to give my apologies and DNS, then the guy at the sign-on pointed out that there was a known DNS 10 minutes after me. So, if I arrived at the timekeeper late I could still get a ride albeit with a late start penalty.

Got changed and on the bike in about 5 minute flat, then belted it down the lanes towards the start. 3-1/2 miles into this 4 mile flat-out warm-up I hit a pothole at about 30mph and instantly flatted the front tub. The air turned blue for a while, then I turned round for the slow bumpy ride back the HQ. Bugger!
