When I was an articled clerk in the late eighties, working in New Bond Street, we acted for Madam Jo Jo himself (herself?) in an action with one Paul Raymond on the other side.
I think Raymond had bought Jo Jos but the dispute was about ownership of and the rights to the Jo Jo "brand" which, not surprisingly, Jo Jo felt he had a right to (sorry about being so vague - I am not a IP lawyer!). You may know a bit more about the particular history.
Anyway one day we had a couple of very well turned out young ladies in reception, albeit, no doubt, packing a real surprise in their sloggis. They had to swear affidavits at another nearby firm of solicitors confirming how very long years they had known the one and only Madame Jo Jo, he was the real thing etc etc.
I was not involved in the case but the partner in charge clearly thought walking these two down New Bond Street and round the corner was a job for yours truly, the young 6 ft 4' rugby player. Boy did we get some looks, in the street, the receptionist, the solicitor taking the swear etc and then returning back up Bond Street. Thank goodness we didn't have to pass any building sites.
