Fast course (U46B Swindon), good conditions and (at last) a bit of good form saw me return a season's best 57:28 (just 11 seconds off my PB).
I was the only ACC man riding - this course is a long, long way from Croydon. The temperature was a nice 19C or so with a light northerly wind. The course runs north/south so the wind made the southbound legs very fast and the northbound legs were ok. The downhill sliproad start meant a fast start with me hitting 34 mph on the DC, though number 30 came straight past me on his second lap (he did a 52). I knew it was going to be good when my speed didn't drop below 27mph to the first turn, and even into the wind coming back I was over 24mph until the long drag past the start point to the second turn. I felt the wind was dropping through the event as the second southbound leg wasn't quite as fast as the first (only 32mph this time) but the final leg was easier than expected (apart from the climb up the slip road to the finish). I was quite pleased with my time until I noticed that Woodburn had done 55:39 so I guess I should have gone 2 minutes faster!
