So normally when I ride I'm either riding a TT, or commuting... and since my commuting is my training riding, then I'm usually riding as fast as I can all the time, or trying to sprint up hills.... and well it's not that much fun.
On Friday I had a day off and the opportunity to just go for a steady ride in the sun.... and had the most enjoyable ride I've had all year just cruising along carefree. Once or twice I caught myself feeling guilty I wasn't pushing harder. and backed off a couple of times I found myself overdoing it going up hill. But at the end of the day felt fantastic and realised I'd really missed just going for a nice simple ride. really must do it more often!
Then last night had the club 2-up Jack and Jill with Lorraine. Brilliant fun, trying to maintain a nice steady pace and keeping it nice and smooth. Not sure of our exact time since I forgot to hit stop on my watch , but I'm positive we broke evens comfortably.
So two really enjoyable and different rides this week.... and I've remembered how I felt when I started to "get into" my cycling a few years ago. More of the same to come I think.
