ride to eastbourne

Postby peter munden » Wed Dec 28, 2005 7:42 pm

the ride will a good 100miles+ but WILL NOT be rushed it is purely for winter training. As for the dates I would expect it to be in the next 2/3 weeks but cannot be sure untill I know people are interrested.

Peter, I can probably go for this - a longer ride before mallorca on 5/2 would be welcome but not if its too cold, wet or miserable. We can advertise it as the acc reliability ride! I think that it is reall good that you are organising something like this and I feel sure that others will go for it if they have a date and time in view and realise that it will be a comfortable pace.

do a pm if you had any thoughts about the spoke / wheel problem that we discussed

best wishes

Alan

Having done a Croydon to Eastbourne ride two of the past three Christmases, I can safely say there are good options for riding.

I can recommend going through Westerham and across Ashdown Forest on the B2062, as it's very scenic and the climbs are steady. I've had to do a bit of A22 from there - all the way to Eastbourne on the A22 is a bit hairy (but do-able, c.55 miles). Which is why I've also done a tester route, through the lanes to Alfriston and over High and Over into Seaford and then across the Seven Sisters. Three solid double-digit percentage hills on that route (c.60 miles).

I might be able to join in, family time depending.
I have a will of steel and legs of fire.

The Catford Reliability trial is on the 29th Jan (sunday). It is quite hilly apparently.

Were you thinking of a saturday or sunday for the eastbourne ride?

ride to eastbourne

Postby peter munden » Wed Jan 04, 2006 1:30 pm

The date as such will be the last week in January. Monty is going to make an anouncment at the next club run to confirm it. For those interrested inthe route it will be as such:

Croydon, Crystal Palace, Biggin hill, Westerham, Eadenbridge, Ashdown forest, Then onto the the A22 down to polegate and finally on the sea front. We will return the same way.

If you have anymore questions speak to me on the next clubrun.

Cheers

Pete.

I didn't know that he had crashed.

Fair enough I am sure there will be some other painful thing I can do next sunday.
