Audaxes

I’ve signed up to Audax UK to widen my cycling horizon but it seems that events in our neck of the woods are pretty few and far between. There’s a few calendared ones but the permanents etc are pretty non-existant.
Any suggestions or am I missing something?

I noticed most are a fair way off when I looked last year. I might do a few next year but will look towards the end of this year at the calendar and pick the odd closer to home one or another option I thought to do was:

- Train out to start and cheap B&B the day before.
- Ride shorter audax distance event (up to 300 max but more likely a 200)
- Ride home which effectively extends the audax to a 300 or 400 but with a chunk of it diy.

I'm not sure of the practicalities of this as I haven't looked in to it enough yet, I guess it jut depends where the start/finish is and what time as to how much night riding is involved.

or

- pick a long one that's in a nice bit of the Country
- drive out
- ride
- B&B either side of it and have a nice weekend away, this option is more about the part of the Country it's in to make it a good weekend away and worth the travelling, but could be a great way to see some very nice bits of Britain that I don't know.

Audaxes cost so little to enter that a cheap B&B for a night or two is not going to make for an expensive weekend.

OT, but isn't the correct plural form "Audaces"? As in indices, appendices, weetabices ...
