Gone and bought myself some planet X tubs over the weekend so I now have two complete bikes instead of one and a half.

Is anyone available this week (preferrably tomorrow night) to help put them on?
Will offer cake in return.

If you're using tape then [url=http://www.addiscombe.org//members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3661&p=22701&hilit=pencil#p22701]RichV's excellent guide[/url] is a doddle to follow and gives perfect results. Tufo extreme tape is very strong, the veritable pooh on a blanket stickiness.

I don't bother with glue as tape's easier and I TT on them, different if I was going to use them on a track. Most use glue on the road but I'm pretty sure a few use tape without problems.

With new rims you need to make sure you clean give the rim a light rough up first (say with some fine wet and dry) and clean them with acetone or similar to remove any grease from manufacture.

Whether you use tape or glue stick the tub on the wheel and inflate it now anyway so that you stretch the tub slightly which will help with fitting. Some tubs need it a bit more than others, I find the vitorrias I use okay but used cheaper contis before and they needed the stretch a bit more.

If using glue on new rims, first clean rim with some acetone, apply glue to rim and tub and leave for 24 hours or so, then apply glue to tub, leave it get tacky and then place on rim.

Good tip for when you want to remove the tub, leave a 1 to 2in gap opposite the valve without any glue on the tub, helps when you need some leverage.

Thanks guys. I've read RichV's instructions and tried a search on youtube. There's around 70 videos and I've watched a few already.

Will start on stretching the tyre first tonight.

If I'm racing on the road and in crits, is it recommended to go for glue instead of tape ?

Most folk probably use glue but I'm almost certain Keith Coffey uses tape and he corners like a demon.
