SPOLER What's up ? SPOILER

I'm perhaps being a tad hasty but at this rate he may not finish the Tour? He caused a crash on stage 1(which he was clearly embarassed about when interviewed), got dropped before all the crashes on stage 2 and couldn't have won the Charlwood sprint on today's showing.

Re: What's up with Cav?

Not sure. The way I saw the end of today's stage, the 4 HTC riders were in there and sorted. Then someone else went for a long one and only Renshaw and Cav latched on. Renshaw tried to go but faded (Renshaw said there was a slight uphill gradient) and without that lead out, Cav went but realised he wasn't going to get first and sat up well before the line.

But then last year's Cav seemed to be able to sprint past anyone - even without a team to drag him up there.

Maybe he needs to start behaving more like a cyclist and less like a footballer.

Hmm i guess there maybe an argument to suggest the lead out train wasn't strong enough (there were lots of mini sprints to accommodate change of direction and hopping on other wheels) but as his sprint adviser Erick Zabel said, 'he simply didn't have his sprinting legs'. I don't think he has the form :?

I think there may also be a bit of a case of "chickens coming home to roost" with the rest of the peloton deciding to teach a brash (some would say arrogant), gobby young man a lesson and to show him his place.

If he learns his lesson, I think C(h)av will be a better racer for it.

A bit of tactical genius from Renshaw there at the end. I think we know who the brains of the operation is.

watched the highlights (cough) on Eurosport. Amazing how they can stretch a couple of minutes of hectic action into a one hour yawnathon. I struggled again to stay awake for the good bit. I wish they'd show the sprint first then all the pootling after  .

Is it just me....or are these early stages mostly just dullsville with a pinch of excitement @ the end...?
