[quote="marco"]Comes a cross as quite earnest if a bit jaded

Comes across to me as a dickhead, same as he normally does. Too busy trying to play the cool card and just sounds, and often looks, stupid instead. Always reminds me of Kevin & Perry from Harry Enfield.

Yeah, well, maybe, who knows  .

[quote="marco"]I'm guessing that he is resigned to it still being a two speed peloton this year

FFS if you don't like it or believe it don't watch it. Guessing games and supposition without evidence or sound basis as usual. Working on these criteria Wiggins is the most obvious doping case, last year, as from nowhere he suddenly had the ability to climb and stay with the leaders on the highest passes and this year he can't hold a wheel on a Cat 1 and loses minutes hand over fist.

 just pointing out a few inconsistencies.
[quote="marco"]Last year I'd agree with you, this year with what we've seen so far and knowing that he's now with Brailsford and without Lim I'm optomistic he's riding clean.

Garmin, always viewed as a clean team from day one of their inception with Jonathan Vaughters.

I must admit I like Wiggins, he was nice when we met him at a good friday meet at Herne Hill a few years ago. Also he does'nt really try the PR thing either or conform to some bland dress code and style.

Given the performance gains, especially in terms of recovery, it would be naïve, not to think a Top 5 finisher wasn't using a program in any grand tour.

Naïve because history, has shown time and time again, that this, is the structure, of professional cycling. That's not to say, that they are not all great riders. I personally wouldn't put a lot of faith, in the GC, to distinguish between riders.

Similar to work life, domestiques are expendable, chasing the dollars, next contract etc and those at the top, obviously always get there on merit.

Will I be taking next Thursday off to watch the tour, yes of course, it's great entertainment.
Will be going for ride, in the morning if any one is interested in joining. 9.15 Coulsdon South

[quote]Good find.
Comes a cross as quite earnest if a bit jaded- I'm guessing that he is resigned to it still being a two speed peloton this year and this year he hasn't got that overdrive so there isn't much point him getting super excited or promising big things. As for Lance going down I can see his point - the guy is associated with a lot of big problems in the sport right now - so I doubt Lance staying upright on his bike and riding well is much of a concern for someone trying to give it his best shot.

If he was doped last year and is clean this year, why do you think he had podium aspirations knowing this would be impossible.

Wiggins and Armstrongs performance this year compared to 2009 can be put down to far more obvious reasons than doping.

So Wiggins doped last year to get a £2m contract then

I guess only losers are safe from defamation.

If Brailsford thought Wiggins was a genuine podium contender then he must be even more deluded than I thought.

Everything depends on how cynical you are towards professional cycling. Then how you define winners and losers

Yesterday stage is a good example. We know a lead out man is never going to win a sprinters stage, from the point of view he's there to lead out. So using his position in the stage classification, he would have deemed to have lost.

But we know, it's a team sport, so the lead out man is a winner, if his man crosses the line first.

However, the lead out man, is treated as an individual, by the authorities, when it suits. So even though his actions benefit his team, they send him home.

I'm not sure it did benefit the team. Wouldn't it have been better for Cav if Farrar had got through and taken second?

Why stop at second, depends if you think Renshaw realised, Cav was delivered to the line, too earlier, hence he closed the door on Farrar. Thus increasing Cav's chances.
So I believe his actions benefitted the team but that counts for nothing.
