TdF on ITV4

Postby Dombo » Mon Jul 19, 2010 5:40 pm

Anyone see the live ones at the weekend?
Brilliant comment from Liggett; helicopter shot of peloton snaking through a pretty village, usual commentary about the riders, positioning etc, then it lingered too long on a combined harvester in a field.
3-4 seconds of silence and then we had "Combined harvester in a field there, separating the wheat from the chaff". Absolute classic. :D

'And now onto the competition to win a boardman road bike.'

F... off and put the cycling back on you tossers, I don't want the opportunity to win some half baked time trial bike I just want to watch the cycling, and why are you asking me a question about a frigging track bike race when I am watching the tour de bloody france.

cheers

MArek....

Seriously though, Jon, how could ITV possibly have known that it was all going to kick off half way up the Tourmalet? Oh, apart from the fact that it was blindingly obvious from the moment the course was announced?

(in the TT) "Contador trying to move himself forward on the bike" - no he's not, he's pulling himself backwards, cos he keeps slipping forward. Seems to be a common occurence on the TT bikes as I'd noticed that from him and several riders before.

I love that one i didn't here them say it this year.

Questions:
"How big exactly is Big George Hincapie"
"Is it possible to purchase a suitcase of courage?"
"Can you ride the time trial of your life every tour?"
"How many strong men of the tour are there exactly?

The ads on ITV4 are annoying and yes Paul and Pauls isms are a bit annoying but I find them silly and endearing at the same time. Chris Boardman, Ned Bolting (Lucky Bugger - presenting at the Fifa World Cup and The Tour De France  ) and Gary Imlach are all excellent too. :D
