London Cycle Scheme

So Boris wants us to sign up for the London Cycle Scheme. I like the idea and want to sign up for this, but even with the Scheme starting next week they don't have the docking stations mapped out yet. I have seen a docking station appear near to my office on Curzon Street, but I have not seen one at Victoria, probably is somewhere around. My fear is that I get to Victoria and cannot get a bike, and secondly if I do get one and get to my office and the rack is full that I then have to cycle around London looking for another dock to put my bike in. And as I currently don't have any clue whether these docks are going to be near or far from Curzon Street how can I make the decision to sign up to this scheme or not.

How can they invest all this money into this Scheme and then launch it so badly. Is it just me that is finding this a bit last minute?

Cheers

Marek.....

Just pop round the corner Marek one outside my office :D . There is also a pillar for paying (free for the first 30 mins) which has details on it. Not read it all but looks like it has a list of docking stations on it. Does yours not have this? Maybe one going up?

Or get your own bike out in the morning you lazy git  .

Agree it's not the best launch but then they could do it properly once eveything's in place rather than have folk waiting eager while they're still finishing the docking stations.

Her indoors was saying the same thing Marek. She has informed me though that she recalls seeing a docking station near Westminster cathedral, some where around Ashley Place.

Says list of stations will be up on website on 30 July. They're still busy building the one next to my work.

£1 a day fixed fee then pay extra for time above 30 min. £6 for 2h, sounds a lot? Not sure how much it is in Lyon/Paris. £150 late penalty!!

I've used the one in Lyon which is well handy as you have loads of time to ride from station to station in 1/2 hour. Then you just switch bikes as desired :D . They have built-in locks so you can go shopping with them. The fixed €1 fee was for the week there I think.

Does anyone else think it would be fun to have an unofficial race on these? Apparently they weigh loads so that might favour the heavier rider ...

I heard you can just leave them at any branch of Barclays. Or is that just a rumour I started?

[quote="marco"]Tonight, think I'm going up with MG , who will no doubt be making life hard for himself on his penny farthing. You up for it on a Barclays?

Take a picture Marco, I'd love to see Graham on his old ordinary.
