Just out of curiosity, what difference would an armful of EPO make to say, me?
Instead of being lapped 5 times by Sylv and Adam at Hillingdon could I have held them off or been lapped four times. Or on the CR, could I step out with the TG or would it only make the difference between 18s and 19s?
As I say, just curious.

It's been proved to be up to 15% improvement (think watts not mph)

I'm curious about the repercussions on this person's job, as a non-pro cyclist. It's big news (now on cyclingnews) and unlikely to go unnoticed by an employer if he has one. I know it's not a criminal charge here but would they employ a convicted cheat. Big trouble.
Question is why were they sitting on it for so long?

Apparently due process, check out the thread on veloriders for the exact wording.

Sad to see that he offended in the race commemorating my old Editor, Jock Wadley. JBW would not have been amused.

Interesting to see in the long list of banned people on the UK Anti-Doping Agency website that rugby and football throw up quite a lot of offenders. Yet, looking back a couple of years, Staite is the only cyclist offender. And still cycling is most pilloried in the media.

The media makes more money out of football.

Look how hard it was to find TdF reports in the mainstream press, and probably a quarter of that dwelled on Landis confessions

Here is the man in question winning the Jack Wadley
it wasn't the results he got or simply being in the winning break in a couple of decent races that looked dodgy, it was the way he was riding. I don't know about the roy thame but in the jock wadley, towing one of the best riders in the country across a 2mins 30 gap without asking a turn to a group which had no rapha riders in it is just mad. My team-mate was in the break and apparently dan staite just sat on the front without caring for others to work then john tiernan-locke left them and he carried on sitting on the front plugging away!

must be a great feeling I suspose, feeling so powerful, but wouldn't the knowledge of how you came by it taint that feeling just a little? How could you feel great about your wins?

ooh initially perhaps, but I'm sure you'd soon get over those feelings of shame and it would eventually feel quite normal. Back in my late teens I had a three week stay in NYC. Initially we paid for subway tickets and then we were actively encouraged by 'friends' not to bother. So we jumped the subway - and saved money. The feelings of guilt soon evaporated and it became quite normal to travel without paying until two of us were caught with a few days of our holiday left :( Very bad any kids reading this always pay your tube fare ( I hope my son doesn't see this).

What a tragic cretin. Never fail to be amazed by the level of idiocy of some people, from Paul's link he's obviously been a cock for years. From the report on how he suddenly started riding he clearly has the intelligence of a 6 year old who nicks sweets and can't wait to tell everyone about it.
I don't understand the 'due process' thing though - everyone knew and the rider in question wasn't even contesting it.

I can (only sort of given the clear admission in May) understand nothing being said until after the hearing and suspension imposed. That was the end of June. No 'publication' of the news by BC until the last week in July which seems like a long time to prepare a press release. Just scratching my head as to what happened in the first 3 weeks of July and whether delaying publication would benefit anyone's interests :?: I guess BC may say they don't publish until the time for appealing has expired.

Also no mention yet of the rumoured 'pro' british cyclist testing positive.
