OMG this is getting ridiculous! Is this the same bloke that got beaten by a kid and kept pulling out of Palace races when the going got tough?
Wow you're having a stoming season Steve - once again well done!

Well done Steve, pity your holidays are happening just as you are hitting such good form. Did you start off with the 2nd cats?

[quote="Sean Hogan"]GFWs?
Which ones?
S
Zipp 404 Clinchers Sean - and I don't think they make much of a difference (Tubulars maybe more so due to weight saving).
Great result Steve - well done!

[quote="Sean Hogan"]I guess you've been having double helpings of weetabix Steve.
Sean you've nailed my secret
Thanks guys, yeah an amazing week, first HH last sunday, then Palace, then the Handicap thursday
. Not sure I can quite believe it myself.

Toks, yeah thats me
, but it could have been you if you'd got your arse over to Palace more often
. No seriously, I think its really a matter of perseverance at Palace, experience, getting your lines right, knowing when to be near the front, knowing when you don't need to be. All this is key, but I don't do any of that stuff, I just sit in and sprint like f*** at the end
[quote="kieran"]Well done Steve, pity your holidays are happening just as you are hitting such good form. Did you start off with the 2nd cats?
Kieran, no went with the 3rd group off on thursday. I told Paul who was handicaping, but as I havn't got my license yet, I'm still a 3rd cat. Our group was pretty quick in itself and i thought we would'nt get caught by the scratch group. But with guys like George, Keith, Dave K, Marcus B and quite a few others in the group, it wasn't surprising. What was surprising was the fact that I crossed the line first. George had a big hand it tho, he put in a massive dig with about 600m to go which just strung the field out enough for me to slip in to a perfect position before the last corner, which was pretty tight. Out of the corner George was 20m up the road with 5 or 6 between him and me. The long finish straight looked inviting, and my legs felt strong, so I went for it. And the rest, as they say is 'history'
I was buzzing afterward, it was brilliant.
I'm off on hols now so won't get a chance to ride as a 2nd cat this year, (as palace and the handicaps are ending at the end of Aug), which is a shame, cos as Kieran said, I've hit top form, probably my best ever.
Anyway, thanks guys,
Adios, see you in a few weeks
Steve
