Stan Pike Bike

Hi

A collegue at work is thinking of selling the below bike. I'm tempted to make an offer but I have no idea what it is worth. I also have not heard of Stan Pike before... has anyone got expertise to value it?

- Hand build frame by Stan Pike of Crewkerne
- Frame: 23"
- Frame: Reynold 531 frame tubing
- Forks: Reynold 531 fork blades
- Brakes: Weinmann Vainqueur 750 rear and 610 front
- 10 speed suntour GT

I also have a photo of the bike but I can't find a way to attach it to this post.

Good bikes, he built the legend "Chuckles" Woodburn's bikes for his LEJOG record ride in '82.

Reynolds 531 - good
Weinmann centre-pulls were good brakes but they're never going to feel like a modern dual pivot.
Don't know anything about Suntour but this would make a very nice period bike so I'd ditch it and get some vintage Campagnolo from ebay as you can pick up 10 speed mechs etc at fairly cheap prices there.

I used to use SunTour, in the days when you could run one set of levers and a different set of gears.

If you were to buy it I'd keep the suntour on it (might even have come with it originally), but the frame, at 23in is a large frame, have you tried it out?

No, I haven't yet. I will try it out before I commit to buying it. Wanted to find out about the bike before I go to try it out as the bike is in Alton.
