Late summer social - Wed 8th September

Postby Amy » Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:34 pm

Went to Skinkers under London Bridge station and found it a nice venue - anyone fancy a social at the beginning of September?

Some of you may have the same problem as me: my trains stop running early in the evening from LB but I can just go down to Balham and pick up the services from Victoria.

Any preferences for which day of the week?

Skinkers is a Davy Wine Bar and do British tapas for those of us who like to cheat

Well, for anyone riding, there is one of Boris'(?) cycle parks somewhere round the back of the station where you can leave your bikes (don't think you need to be registered - anyone use it?)

Perhaps we should bring something like an ACC cap to ensure we can spot each other especially for those meeting people in their real clothes for the first time  :?: Or stick it somewhere obvious on the table we're at :D

I'm up for it

I've used the London Bridge Bike Park a couple of times, you do need to be registered in advance, but fairly painless. £5 for access card, then £1.50 a day (discounted for longer periods)

What is British Tapas though? Pickled eggs and pork scratchings?

Trying to remember...

When I was there, 3 of us shared whitebait, scampi, pigs in blankets and a big bowl of chips - all nice and hot :D

Also remember there were potted shrimps and Welsh rarebit and a couple more that I can't remember.

very sorry but I have agreed to do some work away from London on the 8th. I don't like missing an ACC social - but needs must...

I'll be there. Excellent beer - Davy's Old Wallop by the pitcher, plate of finest ham for thruppence.
They even do the gassy yellow stuff for the lager drinkers.

Marvellous. Does the Old Wallop come in battered pewter beer mugs like at Bangers Too?
