Indeed, me and Andy definitely enjoyed the company.

We ended up doing nearly 40 miles (from Caterham) at a good pace - and was therefore a good workout.

Group included Ant, Serge, Dave K and Dan. Serge turned back at the Gatwick roundabout as (I think?) he is racing this week.

See you all next week,

Darren

"Big Phil"? Hmm. Thanks Marcus.

Didn't see any really bad driving until returning through Banstead when some yoof in a small bodykitted car decided that I had to be overtaken immediately before he slammed on the brakes and turned left into a driveway. Was in too mellow a mood to stay and exchange words. But fat bloke on a steel bike versus Halfords bodykit ... I reckon I'd do some damage.

Meant to say thank you to all who supported this and came out - in particular, Big Phil (we could go all Nac Mac Feegle here) for getting the rides started and Ant for his strong support in promoting the ride and encouraging others to come along :D

Sounds like it went really well - excellent. Couldn't make it because I got home too late but plan to be there next week. If this can be done a few times before the weather gets too grim we will have a meeting time and route to return to in the Spring. Well done for introducing the idea, Amy, and everyone else who got involved.

Was good last night, Ive not ridden that hard for months but glad I managed to keep going. Thanks to one and all who turned out except for Mr Kennet who tried to kill us all on the way back by going so bloody fast  40 miles door to door for me, averaged 20.5 mph for the whole ride so that goes to show how quick it was at times. Same again next week. I'd forgotten how nice it is to ride so hard it hurts. :D

Cheers guys and gal.

First CG and I'm gutted I'll miss the next two as I'm out of country. It seems the interest is strong so mid week rides will continue during the winter too (or at least I hope so).

Interesting, Phil reckons we did 19.1mph av moving (not including me going slow up the hills and stops) - my speedo said av 16.9  but I think I've hit a wrong button somewhere and it's all messed up... got the destructions somewhere

I think I heard Ant mutter about going with the slow group but then temptation was too much when the groups started parting ways (followed shortly by red light which made the gap even bigger than it might've been) Glad everybody seems to've had a good ride.

Here's hoping we can build on this - it's basically a follow-on from Serge's efforts last time :)

Too true. Look out for me at 9.00 tomorrow though - trying to turn over a new leaf.

Phil, I fear I shall miss the start of your new mission in life to be punctual :D I'll shall down at Ripley by 9am having ridden down there with a trailer of bike stuff for sale at the jumble.

I am not looking forward to getting up at 5am in order to have breakfast and then ride over to Sutton to pick up the trailer and then ride down the A3 to Ripley

No meeting at work next Tuesday so looking forward to this.

I won't tell my other half that i'm spending the evening with "Big Phil".......

Is this open to non-accers? Got a mate who wants to come when he's sorted some decent lights in a few weeks. He's been on the club run before and rides pretty well, just too tight to pay membership or buy the kit!

Too tight to pay the membership? I have saved many, many times my membership fee in shop discounts. The funny thing is, you would've thought my wife would be pleased about that but for some reason, she isn't.

Maybe we should negotiate a club discount at some local shoe shops
