Hey Toks,

See you did the training race, how was it for you, looks like a couple of seasoned racers gave you boyz a bit of a lesson. Was it fun?

Cheers

It was fine mate, I didn't see the first breakaway go! Matt - The Escape Artist - Seaton disappeared with one of your super powerful Polish breathrens. They just zoomed away like two guys on Harleys, unbelievable!!...I actually initiated the 2nd breakaway but coz I hadn't really warmed up properly i slowed down; didn't fancy Blowing Up in a training race.

Anyway James (economic Energy), 2nd cat) and Mickail( Fit For, 1st cat)) and some other Dude in black kept going and while i waited for the bunch to swallow me up. As the three of them approached and lapped us I decided to jump on. All four of us stayed away (good all thru & off) before we were joined by another guy 6/7 laps later... I feel stronger than I did at this time last year. Less quantity (miles) but better quality (more intensity). Touch wood it seems to be working... Lets all take bets on when my name will finally be spelt properly in a race report... How about you big guy, hows training and when will you start racing?

Training is going ok, had a good week last week, went fast for the first time for ages on the club run with Simon and some other guy.

During the week now I can only really turbo train so am hoping this will be enough intensity and then get the longer miles in at the weekend.

I was thinking that in February we should start thinking about doing 80km at race speed to get the body used to the pace. If we do this in a reasonably small group then we will be forced to take turns on the front and this will be good training.

I will think about a structure and place we can do this. Maybe on one of the RR circuits near Newchapel or South Nutfield, this means that if we drop someone (more likely when you drop me) they can get back on the next time around.

What do you reckon?

Cheers

Hey mate thats fine! As long as you're not just spinning easily, I think a couple of turbo sessions (intervals) midweek will put you in good form come race time.I tend to do two half an hour sessions at thru and off pace twice midweek. And if I can't make the club run the longer sessions are normally 4/5 laps around Richmond Park.

Its a great Idea; an addiscombe chain gang makes good sense. No more than a couple of hours at close to race pace though!. Perhaps we could get it going in the next few weeks. Keep me posted

It would be good to have a regular session of hard work.

Just doing reliability rides at the moment. Need to get a bit faster but hope Majorca will help with that.

Cheers

If you guys fancy doing something this Saturday on one of the circuits then that is fine by me, although I don't really want to ride 90miles like I did last Saturday as it screwed me for the reliabiltiy ride the day after.

So, how about we meet up halfway between East Grinstead and Coulsdon. I was thinking we could meet up outside the Newchapel Village Hall and practice on that circuit. We could do 10 laps or so at race speed and then we could pootle over to Wyevale Garden Centre for a cup of tea, or you could come around to mine and I can get the wife to make the tea.

I think that Newchapel is about 40 mins out of Coulsdon so I could meet you at say 10.15am. This gives you a chance to drum up more interested riders at Coulsdon who are intending to go on the club run etc. We could just ride it like a race and if people get dropped it should be fine as Newchapel is a short circuit and they can therefore get back on the next time around.

Anyone interested or would you prefer to wait until a bit later in the year?

Cheers

Cool! Remember though, the only way your gonna get faster is to ride faster. You can do base miles right up to June if you want, your fitness gains are gonna be minimal without some intensity! :)

Mmmm thats two hours of riding for me before we even get started. Can't we just have a fastish group starting from CCS and do the normal route?
