Just remember to open the windows....and are you going to take it in turns bringing the air freshener

There'll be more sweat in that room than in a stadium full of fat school girls at a JLS concert.

Sounds great, I would be up for this. I think it would be great fun and might encourage people to use a dreaded turbo  and push a little harder than when on there own.
I guess about 75ish minutes including warm up/down. Only thing is that 845pm start might make the finish a little late for some. Its Ok for me though.

I have a spare turbo for those who might like to try it out.

Just a few questions:
What sort of sessions are we thinking of ?
What aspects of fitness are the DVDs aimed at developing ?
Can we wear masks ? there are some weird faces I pull when on the turbo and I,m embarrassed

I have a couple of DVDs (cyclops realride series) the sprint one in particular devolops pedalling technique and increased cadence. Its a nice intro to Turbo trainer sessions, before we get down to the brutal stuff early next year  .

Hmm. For me, the turbo one of those activities that is sweaty, undignified and best done in private when wearing very little. Also with the windows open so the neighbours can hear.

Hmm! Phil? ONE of those activities??

Are there other activities you participate in that are "sweaty, undignified and best done in private when wearing very little. Also with the windows open so the neighbours can hear"?

It's a shame we can't access the club house earlier as the proposed timing of this won't work well for me. I might give it a go though  turbo pain.

I wonder if it might be an idea to throw the "class" open to other local clubs if there's the space available? Could be a good inclusive move?

To get this rolling (in a static turbo sort of way), I need to speak to Joyce so if anyone has her number, please could you PM me so I can discuss timings with her etc. ***EDIT Got the number (thanks Jon)- will call her later today ****

I need to meet up with Guru P to collect the screen and projector.

I would prefer an earlier time too so I’m not bouncing off the walls all night but we’ll have to wait and see what our options are.

As for opening it up for other clubs, that’s a great idea and one that we can explore once we do a few in-club sessions and get the idea off the ground. Perhaps, if things go well, we could mark if on the website calendar?

For the format, I’m open to suggestions. I was thinking of using training videos. I have the Sufferfest videos which I think are brilliant. We could do a different one each week to focus on different areas.

Off the top of my head, the format on the videos I have are as follows:

Downward Spiral (1hr) – Downward spiral of sprint intervals 2:00 on, 2:00 rest, 1:45 on, 1:45 rest etc etc.
Fight Club (1hr) – Sustained threshold efforts. 4 min TT followed by 2:30 hill climb, all with sprints.
Angels (1hr) – Over and under sprints, followed by 4 long hill sessions.
Revolver (45 mins) – 15 x 1 minute on, 1 minute off sprints.

More info/previews on the Sufferfest website http://www.thesufferfest.com/

I also have a Cycleops one which mimics a crit race.

Just ordered a turbo trainer from Ribble (they have 20% off them at the mo and their prices are already cheap) so might be up for a bit of this once I'm confident using it and I wont fall off

I hadn't forgotten about this, just been pretty busy......

I've spoken to Joyce today and I have asked her to book the room on a Wednesday for the turbo training.
I'm away next week so have started this off for Weds 3rd November 8.30pm onwards. Providing we get decent numbers, this will be a weekly thing through winter.
Joyce will call me later today to confirm the booking and see if there's any possibility we can get in there at an earlier time.
Will keep you all updated. Need to arrange to collect the screen etc from Guru P too.....

I tried downloading the Fightclub and it still hasn't completed in over 3 hours. Is this normal. I have Virgin top broadband package so this should not be the problem. Was looking forward to using it tonight.
