Sunday ride - 24/10

Postby Andrew G » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:38 pm

I can't make the club run, which is kind of handy as Sunday looks nicer weather, so if people would like to join me on Sunday then the company would be most welcome.

It will be a steady ride suitable for anyone from the 18s CR group upwards, we'll stay together though so no dropping (hill regroups).

Meet: Lloyd Park car park, Coombe Rd.
Time: 9.30am departure. I'll wait 5 mins extra though as I'm nice.
Distance: 40 miles to get back to Lloyd Park but we'll come back through Warlingham and Sanderstead so you can cut for home from there should Purley etc be nearer home for a similar distance.
Route: Standard fair for me, so expect quiet lanes and some lumpy bits. It's not what I'd call hilly but there's a few lumps and some cracking lanes. Not really fixed suitable.
Cafe stop: No, bring whatever supplies you want with you.

I thank you.

Andrew.

Tempting, especially if I wake up and it's peeing down with rain tomorrow :D

You might have to wait for me, not just on the hills though... I'm at the slower end of the 18s

Looking at the forecast, yes. Sounds like a plan.

I can't do Saturday either, so this sounds Agreeable. I'm still a bit crocked from my most recent encounter with the German automobile industry (Audi A4 this time), so when you've finished waiting for Amy, you can wait for me as well.

End of a tough season for me so I'm not blasting around this weekend. It's an amy-able ( boom, boom  ) spin in some nice lanes, the 18s CR standard requirement is as an indicator of strength and fitness required as the CR is flat and this is on the ridge of the North Downs so somewhat more rolling.

I'll probably come along too as tomorrow looks far too wet for my liking (sorry Sylv).

Well, it was dry and bright on the club run - I did go out and do the 17s because I felt absolutely rubbish. Whatever gave me the sore throat seems to be still in the system making life hard work :( The good news was that I didn't seem to be the only one going by my group - only Lucy seemed to have any get up and go. I'll probably say it in the cr report but, Lucy, what happened???

So, I won't be out tomorrow now. I'll get onto one of your rides before Winter is out,

Since this morning was a duvet morning for me, I'll be there! Haven't been on the bike for ages though so I might need some pushing on the hills :-)

Thanks for the company chaps, nice ride around some very quiet lanes. More horses than cars to get in our way :D .

When I grabbed my commuting bike out the garage and found a flat front tyre which had been fully inflated Friday evening I opted for just pumping it up and keeping my fingers crossed as I was running a bit late. Somehow it stayed fully inflated all ride as when I got home and took the tube out to change it and pumped the tube up there was an obvious escaping of air and it went down quite quick. Odd, must have been the pressure against the tyre somehow sealing the hole for the ride. Oh well it forced my hand in cleaning the bike and better to discover the flat this morning than tomorrow at 7am.

Thanks for organising the ride Andrew. It was enjoyable (even Titsey hill part). I also flated half a mile from home but managed to get home on half inflated tyre.

Oops, anybody seen Ian?

Nice ride yesterday. Two lanes that I'd never ridden before, and one that I'd not ridden in that direction for a good reason (Pains Hill). Nice autumnal morning, although the low sun did make it a bit difficuly to see where we going a few times.

Pains is a bit of a pain in that direction but you get to ride passed Itchingwood Common and passed the lovely pond first :D .

I've apologised to Ian. Really didn't want anyone to fall off but I didn't know Ian had stopped to reattach his saddlebag before it fell off, and when I stopped for a head count at the next turn we were one short. In narrow twisty lanes can everyone keep tabs on everyone else as it's a bit tricky from the front to keep checking back.
