They are mighty fine Mr. K but may be a bit bulky for Sylv - he like to have naked hands and feel the road.

Silk liners are great for cutting out the cold without adding bulk. Today I had my Specialized Equinox autumn/spring gloves on ('09 vintage, I think they've changed slightly since). Slim fitting and keep out a lot of the cold as the outside facing part is a bit neoprene-y. Nice BG pad for the ulnar nerve and a sort of fake suede palm bit so grippy. Good sized snot wipe too.

Base layers and winter jacket - If they have any left go to Aldi. I ran in quickly so no-one saw me and picked up a long sleeve thermal base layer for £10 and a soft shell type jacket for £15. I've have the short sleeve version of the base layer from before and they are excellent. The jersey looks similarly good, hem gripper, fleecy collar, beard guard, etc, etc. For £15 it appears to be an absolute steal, although I dread to think what kind Victorian mill owner practices are being used in production to flog them that cheap. I never said they were fair trade though.

Specialized BG Toupe

I tried Jamie's Specialized BG Toupe and . . . well it really wasn't right

So one for the girls is the Specialized BG Jett! ....

It doesn't work the other way around either. I always serviced Michelle's bikes and would take them for a spin to check things out. She has BG Jetts on both. Ouch!

Ah Keith, it depends whether you have the old Jett saddles or the new ones. The old ones had some horrible hard black stitching round the butt pads and they could really chafe - all the new ones are just moulded.

Actually I sold my old ones to a bloke - not heard that he's had any problems :)

Kit-Kat Review.

Kit-Kat Chunky, Caramel version.
55p from the vending manchine at work (button 43).

Not tried this version before, so it was a new experience. As I opened the wrapper I discovered the bar was broken in two, leading to a minor chocolate-on-keyboard incident. My conclusion is that this is best served at a slightly warmer temperature so it would be less brittle, and the caramel would be more pleasing when slightly gooey.

Not as good as the original IMHO.

I have been pondering a Kit Kat Chunky Caramel for sometime Jon, so it was very useful to read your review.

I hear what your saying, but I think I am going to take the plunge and try one for myself...

Of course, in the spirit of things, I will post an in depth review once the deed had been done.

Go for a Boost, in contains guaraná - about twice the amount of caffeine found in coffee beans

I don't know about you, Keith, but I think this has got a little bit silly

You can't really trust this lot to stay serious for any length of time

Anyone any experience of Mavic wheels - top end ones ending in -irium... :?:

ie: any problems with breaking spokes (see today's write-up for explanation... )

Kysirium (sp?) no experience personally but they tend to get good reviews. Not sure of their price but if they're in your budget then have a look at Campagnolo Neutrons (GBs £415 less 10% ACC discount. Excellent wheels, light, strong, climb well, and being a lower profile rim will be quite friendly for you in tyre replacement in the event of a puncture.

I have had Kysriums in the past and have had a few spokes go, and when they go they really go. Also i don't think the hubs are that good. Campagnolo wheels in my experience are awesome.

cheers

Which ones Marek? I have the Kysirium SL which have been good in training and racing. But I can imagine that a Kysirium bladed spoke would not 'go' quietly.

Yes I had SL's as well, the Campags are significantly better. I have a set of Eurus which I got off Mr Viney second hand and they have been amazing and have been riding them for years now.

Cheers
