London to Brighton Veteran Car Rally 7th November

Like in previous years, probably follow the cars down. I guess an 8.30am meet at CSS for any one interested.

Ben I quite fancy this, but i will have to come back on the train. If I dont show at CSS before 08:30 then carry on regardless.

A great fun ride. If it's cold just tick over behind a steam car as the boiler's are at the back . some nip along nicely at 30-35mph and fun to tuck in on but generally just a really nice ride down. The car drivers and passengers say hello and have a chat as they quite like it for novelty having you drafting. It's best to not stick with one car too long though so you don't out stay your welcome.

Had great fun one year with a chap in tweeds and plus fours on a tricycle which he had to pedal to assist on the hills and drags, the gear was so insanely low that he'd be out the saddle spinning like mad to try and get over the brow, cursing us "only got one gear". he was a top bloke, really nice chap and the great British eccentric.

So, Ben sorted the weather and the tailwind down to Brighton .

Hal, Ben and I had an enjoyable blast down to the coast amongst the really old cars, but also appreciated the later models which seem to tag along and 'share the experience'. Maybe it was down to the weather, but it was great to see crowds at every pub and in every village along the way.

A great way to spend the day!

A grand day out. We had such an easy ride down with the tail wind we arrived by 11:00. The wind on the return leg ment a slower journey and I let Ben and Mike go it alone, and hopped on a train

Met a mate in Coulsdon yesterday and had a bit of a ride out with the cars until the turn off for Smallfield and then came back along the lanes for a 40 mile round trip.
Was a really enjoyable ride, chatting to the owners and having the odd race. Good fun and something i'll do again next year.
I think it was wishful thinking for some of those cars to make it all the way to Brighton!

Yes enjoyable day out following the cars. The wind on the way back made it a tough ride home, lucky for me, Mike was doing long turns on the front.
Should be out next sunday as well.

Next sunday the 6th, is the vintage car rally to Brighton. I'll be at CSS at 8.30am. Same as last year, year before that etc, drafting the cars on the way down. More the merrier. If this could appear in the rides section, i would be greatful, thanks.
