That was cold last night!
Just the 6 of us headed out from CSS,which meant I had an unplanned upgrade to the A group!!
I think it was Rogan, Andy, Peachey, Ant and Sylv dragging me along.
You certainly get to feel the difference when you step up this way. No problem on the flats, but on any extended rise, I would gently fall off the back, and then ride like crazy to catch up as things flattened out. So, fine out of CSS and all the way down to the M23, a gradual falling off the back as we went past the slip road, and then chasing back on as we headed down to Merstham.
Things went on like that for me all the way down to Horley, so thanks to the other 5 guys for easing off a little each time to assist my chasing! Oddly, I stayed with the group on the climb out of Redhill to St. Johns, and the rise out of Earlswood past the traffic lights, buty then fell off again on the much gentler, small incline heading out of Salfords towards Horley.
Back on again at Horley, I decided to turn back at the first roundabout and let the other guys hammer down the Gatwick Straight without having to check that I was still there. I then did a solo time-trial, Marcus style, all the way back to CSS.
It was cold, very cold, but still good fun. Got cramp in my foot driving home from CSS and then really enjoyed the pain of the hot shower on my rather cold feet and hands.
Quite pleased overall. Just shows that I need to be able to keep the power up on inclines.......... or make sure the B group guys all turn up!
