Club Run Feedback - Nov 13th

Postby Snoop Doug » Sat Nov 13, 2010 6:57 pm

It was a very friendly atmosphere at CSS this morning. Really good fun to say hi and have a laugh with so many good folks, a lot of whom I've not seen for a while. Something we do really well and I really enjoyed catching up with friends.

I decided to go with Pete and co and my objective was to hang on as long as I could. Blimey - I need a new bike, or maybe some new legs. Whatever - I need something! We set off towards Little Switzerland and were climbing almost immediately. Looking at my garmin thingie, it seems that of the 13.5 miles I managed, the first 9 just went up. What I was not used to after recent off roads and v slow stuff on road was the pace. I kept dropping off the back and despite everyone's best efforts waiting and encouraging, I was cattled (cattle trucked - f***ed) as we arrived at Walton so I headed for home. I didn't fancy keeping folk waiting any longer. Nevertheless, I had a good ride today albeit a lot shorter than usual (yes even I can manage approx 30 miles at my usual sedate pace). So thanks for having me Pete and co, and thanks again to everyone who made me feel so welcome.

I'll be out again next weekend doing a more sedate (and flatter!) ride out to Box Hill via Walton, Little Switzerland - and stopping in Walton for coffee n cake. If anyone fancies a slower, shorter (around 25 to 30 miles) ride - well it's more of a natter with a gentle spin chucked in - I'd be happy if you wanted to join me.

Keen to hear how others got on today too

Cheers - Snoop

In Tim's club run thread...

Good club run today and good shout by George to go left at Newdigate and back through Parkgate and up Partridge from the other side. Partridge is a lovely lane and a shame it's not travelled so often.

For those that liked the route I did to the cafe today, or those that would like to try it, I'll be going to the cafe that way most weeks over winter unless I do a different ride to a normal club run.

Came back the short Redhill way and spun along nicely, a generally smooth big group rolling along although I thought someone was deciding to play chicken with a Range Rover at one point. Not wise.

Ta ta.

Andrew.

Cheers Andrew - I read your note - sounds like you had some fun - Range Rovers excepted. I only started this thread cos at the top of Tim's he asked for feedback to go elsewhere - so zat's what I did :?

By the time it was asked if there was a regular 18mph there were only 2 takers. I was a tad disappointed 'cos I wanted to hang with a regular 18 to test my claw back to fitness. Well we coaxed a 17+ of 7 and headed out. Marcus was struggling due to a cold a baled and the rest of us pushed on. By dint of some through and off and being joined by Steve who did a long turn of single file from Newdigate we managed 18.3. Steve led out and won the sprint unsurprisingly and commented that he was off form! Had an agreeable daughter father return marred only by a witless driver trying to drive in the bus lane on the approach to Coulsdon where someone seemed to have lit a fire! A nice coffee dowsed my flames.
