The world's smallest velodrome is coming to London's East End and will be open to all fixed gear riders for one day's racing on Saturday January 15.
The purpose-built 24.5m Red Bull Mini Drome at York Hall has been engineered in Germany by Velotrack, the team behind the velodromes at the Atlanta Olympic Games and the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
The track will maintain race-worthy dimensions in the smallest possible size to enable a single pursuit at speeds of up to 80kph.
"I think you should expect an atmosphere not unlike the legendary six day races held at Madison Square Gardens roughly 100 years ago," said Andy Ellis from Fixed Magazine.
"Red Bull have gone and executed this precisely how it should be done. It could be the beginning of something much more for the scene."
The event will be open to riders of all ages. York Hall has a 500 people capacity and is free on a first come, first served basis. There is no entry fee - however, a donation to the Herne Hill Velodrome would be welcomed.
Qualifying is open to more than 100 competitors in a single timed race. The racers with the quickest time across the 10 laps will progress through the competition to the finals which will be a single pursuit format.
Qualifiers will run from 3:00pm to 6:30pm with the main event from 7pm to midnight.

Based on this article 10 laps took 40secs , based on a 24.5m lap this works out as equiv to a more modest 22kph.

In fact, if that's the speed there's a good chance you could run round quicker.
