Downhill route to station covered in black ice. Spiked tyres held up well. Just have to remember when you dismount and put your foot down that it's slippy underfoot.

DMs - best thing for ice that I've discovered. Means I can actually make some progress along the road rather than advancing so slowly that little old ladies overtake me...

Another day using up left over holiday so no struggle to the office today. Great two days holiday sitting in the flat avoiding the freezing temperature with a cold :( . The 10 year old Laphroaig has been working well though so it's nearly gone, the cold not the whiskey plenty of that left :) .

Popped in to Croydon earlier in the car as the main roads are clear but the garage forecourt is still an ice rink. Probably MTB again for me for the first day back on the bike to suss out conditions as the car said -1c when I started and went to -2c once it had got used to the outside temperature.

Be careful folks there'll be lots of black ice about on the way home.

[quote="Jamie AP"][quote="Marcus"] Do you ride up Stoats nest or Foxley Hill and through Kenley. Either one is bonkers.

I went up Stoats Nest, passing cars, 4x4's and buses all the way, so not as bonkers as those sat in there cars not going anywhere then?

Chapeau Jamie, Cycling up there on two wheels in the snow is tough, but on one is most definately deserving of huge praise.

I'd imagine a 1:1 gearing is a significant advantage!

Yep, it does, at least when going up. I was keeping up with some bikes, even passing quite a few on some of the hills at Mountain Mayhem this summer. :D
