Good to hear that you continue to make small steps to recovery Toby. All the best Maya and the new little 'un, you all continue to be in our thoughts.

Joyce and I popped over to Tooting to visit Toby in St Georges hospital. He had just come out from successfully having his PEG feed tube fitted so was still under the affects of the anaesthesia and was a bit sleepy. We were chatting to each other over his bed and Joyce told Toby he looked lean like Lance Armstrong and we could see he was trying to laugh and sure he was taking in what we were talking about. He opened his eyes for a moment but was struggling to stay awake after the effects of the earlier procedure.
One time he started snoring, just as Joyce was speaking. Toby is looking very comfortable and his face is a good colour and could turn his head from side to side.
We didn't see his wife Maya and it would be nice next time to visit whilst she is present, above and at the end of his bed there are photos of his children so whenever he opens his eyes he can glance at their beautiful faces.
He's making small steps all the time and every step he takes he is progressing in his recovery.
Toby is being looked after very well there in Atkinson Morley wing which is the top neurosurgery unit around, I should know I've spent some time in there with my broken neck.
Visiting hours are 3-8pm, 3rd floor, Kent ward, Atkinson Morley wing, St Georges Hospital.

Noticable progress in a week.

He's able to swallow, and is now eating yoghurt.
He was sat in his chair without the need for support for his head.
Toby was writing something, but it wasn't quite legible. So frustrating for him and me. I so wanted to know what he was trying to tell me.

I popped in to see Toby a couple of days ago.

Slow but definite progress. He's more attentive and I heard him say a couple of very quiet words in response to direct questions.

He'll soon be moving from St George's hospital to a rehabilitation centre which is closer to his home. This is a good indicator since the rehab centre only take people they consider to have potential for significant improvement.
