[quote="Andrew G"]Personally I'm not a fan of that type of mega blitz Marco, it can very easily start to feel like it's a bit pressuring.
Disagree. You cannot be half-hearted about marketing a new product in an already noisy market. Even with all members efforts combined it would be quite something to be able to produce an overbearing campaign (?) and let's not forget that (supposedly) all publicity is good publicity.
Should the event become established then A: Credit to Alan, his volunteers and ACC & B: A different approach to the 'mega blitz' might then be more appropriate.
That all said, the reality is that it is a difficult 'up-hill' battle to get an event noticed (I believe that the ACC event runs on the same day as The 'iconic' Dragon Ride) which may assist or hinder (moot point).
What you don't want is poor numbers as a result of insufficient marketing/publicity. Especially in a club that is seemingly well connected with the cycling industry at local and regional level. (Although all ideas should go via Alan first).
One other point: I rode the first Evans 'Surrey' Sportive a year plus ago. The turnout was very poor indeed (N.b. It was dry but had rained heavily in the days before), although I read recently that numbers have been growing significantly for these Evans events. (Evans know a thing or two about 'mega blitz' marketing). It may take a year or two to get the ACC event going!
Very nice Flyer by the way.
