Howdy y'all

I'll be out this Saturday starting at CSS then heading out towards Walton, Little Switzerland, up Box Hill (regroup at the top) and back, stopping at the caff in Walton. Slow steady pace. All on road though if like me you are on an mtb you might fancy taking on the bridle path at Box Hill  If anyone wants to join me they are most welcome.

Cheers - Snoop

Wow - what a blast! We were light in numbers guess a few folk looked out the window and thought no thanks :D

Colin and I headed off up Portnalls (tough hill) and out through Chipstead (some lovely scenery) through Walton, Headley (more lovely scenery) stopped for a quick chat with the alternatives puncture repair dept then went up the box hill bridle path  . Man that is a slog. On to Walton for delicious coffee and a heavenly bacon sandwich, I can't imagine anyone had a better coffee stop than us today. We then went offroad (squelch o matic) back to Banstead and our separate ways home.

First time over 30 miles for a while. Colin was great company and we had an excellent tough (ish) ride. I've done a rough mapmyride but had to cheat on the offroad bits. Shame as I would have liked to see what the box hill bridle path elevation looks like

Hope everyone else had fun today - best bike ride of 2011 so far, he he.

Cheers - Snoop

Yet another solo ride to the pine cafe this morning, as I was late !
I kept a steady pace and halfway I got to the first group which was 16 or 17 I am not sure and at the pine cafe I caught up with Jon's group, which I was trying to catch up for the whole way but couldn't  . My average speed was 18m/h which I thought was not too bad on my own. At the pine cafe I had my snack and chatted with a few people that I haven't seen for almost a month!
When I got to Purley my average speed was 18.6 compared to 17 when I did the club run on my own during the Christmas vacation. I didn't know it made that big of a difference when riding with a group! As before I didn't have a computer to check for these things :).

Good ride and hope to see you guys next week !

P.S. I might have a go at the Group B next week, it will depend how I feel on the day and if I make it on time  .

none too shabby - good work. If you are late more often you will be winning races soon :D

Overslept  so went for a 25 mile fast blast around a Tatsfield and Biggin Hill loop. Passed an Old Ports group going the other way just outside Downe and then a bit further down the road a Dulwich Paragon puncture repair team. Plenty of other solos out and spotted a pair up ahead as I was coming out of Downe so chased them er down. They turned out to be going a bit faster than I'd originally thought and it took a while and left me knackered. So it was nice when I turned off up a hill and they went straight on and I didn't have to try and look like I was still going comfortably and worry about them coming back passed me. I then did my wrestling a bike up a hill while panting like a dirty old man impression.

Was it you in the blue/white kit who I rode with for a while getting back into Purley (I had a black Rapha jacket)? You did well keeping up, considering I was drafting behind a bus most of the way!

Had absolutely nothing in the legs today. Don't know what was wrong. Went out with the 18s - Nick really drove things on down the A23 into the headwind and I had nothing left for the steps and was left for dead. Caught up at the temporary lights and managed to hang on until the climb to rusper where i dropped off again. got caught by the 17s, then the 16s and then the J4F (ok there wasn't a J4F but had there been they would have caught me!!!  )
Limped back home with Brian and Marcus. Even Marcus had had enough and left me on the golf course climb. Thanks, Brian, for getting me home. The worst few hours I've had on a bike in years. Perhaps the pressure of being Captain is getting to me!!

Overslept too. And I thought "That's OK - Andrew will take the alternate 18s". Oops.

Next week, definitely.
