2011 punctures

Postby Jon H » Mon Jan 10, 2011 12:01 pm

Who's had any so far this year?

Got my first one on Saturday; I wasn't really surprised given the amount of grit and general crud in the otherwise nice wide cycle lane on the A20 near Brands Hatch. On the plus side, it did make me have a good look at my rear tyre which I discovered was in a shocking state; lots of deep cuts and one small area with the carcass showing through the rubber. Need to do some tyre shopping.

I got through 3 tyres last year through big cuts, hence I won't be buying Pro race 3 anymore :(

Could be worse - saw a set of tyres with red tread and white walls (apologies if the owner is reading this thread). Most colours are OK so long as they're with black and, of course, match the bike frame. That's what I like about my Enigma - I can have nearly any colour tyre 8)

Back on subject - picked up my bike to go out on the 8th CR and found a flat back tyre. Had a feeling that the tyre was going down on my way back from Monday's ride

Must swap out the bottle cages after I broke one on the 'ramps' over the bridge at Hackbridge :x

You're just jealous of my sylph-like figure

Not very good at Christmas - can't stand mince pies, mulled wine or Christmas pud

I rode my old stelvio for a couple of hundred miles on a front tyre red tread white walls and a rear tyre red tread black walls. I would be offended but clearly I couldn't give a tinker's toss what colour my tyres are - or whether or not they match. :D

Mind you, I wish they came in transparent with similarly non coloured inner tubes. I'd fill them with water and teeny goldfish.

I never had a puncture on my first set of tyres (back in the good old days), vittoria carbon kevlars I think they were. Dunno if they still make them anymore, I think someone at the club had a (conspiracy) theory that the reason they'd stopped was because they were too good ha.

I got my first one on Saturday too. I on the other hand was rather surprised, given that I was on the (generally crud-free) rollers at the time :? .
