My first outing in my new VC role. Took out the 17's and we had a very windy run up the A23. First time at the front and did not realise how tiring it is that first 2 miles. Dropped a rider in the run up to Rusper and waited at Lambs Green - no show after a few minutes. Assumed he went via partridge but never saw him at the cafe. Not a great start as VC loosing a rider....if you were the guy in the 17's in a yellow rain jacket that turned off hope you were ok...

I wouldn't worry about it, I left more than half of my group scattered among the lanes.

My first run with the 17's as well (aside from New Year's Eve which was mostly 17+); a great run, lakes aside, and nice to meet a few more folks. From the perspective of a newbie it was smoothly lead. Much appreciated Mr VC.

My first club ride for around 5/6 weeks and the first one I have felt ok following an unknown illness which lasted approximately 8 weeks. So it was good to be back. Joined Tim and Amy's 16's and we had a very steady ride. I was stronger than I thought and there were differing levels of fitness within the group which meant there where a number of splits along the way but we all got to the Pine in good time.

Would have liked to go to Box Hill to get the miles in but did not fancy it on a fixie.

[quote="Jon C C on a Bianchi"]Limped back home with Brian and Marcus. Even Marcus had had enough and left me on the golf course climb. Thanks, Brian, for getting me home. The worst few hours I've had on a bike in years. Perhaps the pressure of being Captain is getting to me!!

Sorry John  Going up there on a fixie meant all out or stop. So I didn't look behind and just tried to keep my speed up. You and Brian where not far behind me. Brian and I had a good run back to Coulsdon taking turns to do the work until we agreed we where both shagged and rode the bypass at a sensible pace.

I think maybe you are taking your roll as CRC very seriously, so I thank you for taking away my Lurgy and infecting yourself thereby allowing me to have a Leurgy free ride

It was great being back without the lurgy which had blighted me for so long :)
