Rock Band Turbo

Postby George » Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:57 pm

Last night Nick De Meyer, Paul Hone, Matt Chapman and myself were privileged to train to a live rock band The Redados.
around a dozen of us faced the band in a farm barn on our turbo trainers and the band played a 1 hour set especially for us to train to.

The night was absolutely amazing, I have never been so pumped up to train like that, it was so motivating.

The music was rocking, very loud, so loud you couldn't hear even the loudest of turbos and my ears are still ringing.

This was something of an experiment engineered by Roland the drummer from The Redados, also a keen
Cyclist.

The band warmed us up got us all sweating and with different tracks we were doing from 4 min efforts to full on 15 second power-sprints all spinning our legs like crazy to the beat.

Were hoping this could become a regular event and would wonder if anyone else would be interested.

I went to see Motorhead on the Merry Bastard Xmas tour in 1984. My ears still hurt.

My hearings permanently damaged from years of DJing and drumming.

I might try playing my drums next time I'm on the turbo. :D

it was fantastic, for the sprints the band just played at full pelt, and other songs the rhythm of the music really pushed you through the hard bits, as matt said after, that was the fastest hour turboing ever! more to follow...

Sound Coaching and the Rock band Redados are hosting the 2nd Turbo training class with their own live rock music specifically adapted to cycling. There will be strobe and disco lights, a cycling video compilation to keep you motivated, and the best bit...
Who will crack first? the cyclists or the band? Place your bets, its hard for the band as they don't usually play for an hour in one go!
Tues 1st March 2011 at SLH tri club clubhouse in couldson
730pm set up for 8pm start
for our 2nd class we're aiming for 100 plus cyclists all in club colours, in their own groups, and the band will set you against one another for a series of sprints, short time trials, breakaways and chase downs, and a lead out!!! will the cyclists beat the band? Norwood Paragon and Redhill cc vs. Addiscombe cc? any takers? lets take them on and show them whose boss!! ACC!

turbos or rollers are fine, thats a shame slyv, although by the sounds of it we would need to provide you with race nutrition during the class, 3 main courses, i'm impressed and i've got a big appetite, snoop not so sure but i can ask it was a blast with the bands own music before

At first I thought this looked a bit bonkers, but then again what a good idea.

Put me down on the start sheet please.
