help needed to distrbute sportive flyers

Postby Alan M » Fri Jan 14, 2011 2:05 pm

Hi all

With Huw's help we have produced and printed a flyer for the event. Our subscriptions to the event have stalled at less than 50 whilst others are recruiting well. Huw will help with press information in CW but we need more exposure to likely participants at events, in cycling shops, through clubs and via the media. I am therefore seeking your help to both suggest ways of getting the message distributed and to act on this information by volunteering to do something that will help. Flyers can be obtained by sending PMs to Huw and arranging to collect - you can also find him on the ACC FB group. I can send you the PDF if electronic copy is helpful. You need to PM me and send me your email address. Reliability rides are quite soon and we could usefully target them for leaflets but it needs the agreement of the organisers. I hope we will soon see an acceleration in subscriptions. Many thanks for your help with this.

from deepest darkest Peru,

Alan

[quote="marco"]Alan , I checked the text on CycloSport.org for the event and I'd change it around a bit and maybe have a picture thats a bit more enticing like leith hill tower in the sunshine or riders in front of a chocolate box house or something rather than our logo.

I've re-written the text part - feel free to use bits of it if you see fit
[quote]Join us for a glorious day on the bike in sunny June. Discover beautiful lanes that will take you through some of Surrey's most picturesque villages buried deep in the heart of the Surrey Hills that you will want to go revisit again and again. This testing 85 mile course will see you crest some of the area's highest climbs and be rewarded with some of the best descents around while enjoying safe and quiet roads. For the affordable price of just £15 you'll get safety cover, BC insurance, full signposting, marshalling, a feed station, carparking and the warm glow of knowing you've completed the inaugural Addiscombe challenge AND that your entry fee will be helping develop cycling in an under developed remote area of the Northern Andes in Peru. See you at Coulsdon in June, this one's going to be a belter!

I've tried to make it less technical and with more feeling. Out of interest what's the maximum number of riders you can cope with?

can you get it changed Marco. It is a bit tricky from Peru as I have limited internet access. Many thanks for the help. 400 we are insured for

In retrospect, if we had said it was being done to support a local charity (ie the children's trust) we might stand a better chance of getting more riders. I can certainly put it up at my work (Pfizer HQ) if you send me the pdf..

Thanks for this. I am not sure that the charity is the problem. There are plenty of comercial rides that do well and the dragon Ride which is on the same day attracts hundreds and was sold out quickly. I think it is just exposure. Could you PM your email address so I can send you the PDF. Many thanks Alan

Come on Guys, I am underwhelmed by the response to distribute a few leaflets to events and bike shops!

The first obvious opportunity is this coming weekend at the Bexley CC Reliability Ride, so could anyone attending this (last year there were a number of ACC riders in attendance) and any other RTs in the coming week, please take a few minutes to stick some flyers in the sign-on hall and under windscreen wipers in the car parks?

PM me with your details and I'll arrange to meet to give you the flyers.

Cheers

Huw

Thanks Huw, Jon Hemmings has replied and I sent him the PDF. I think maybe he intends to print some off and put them at the ride although he didn't mention that ride specifically I suspect it is the same

Yes, it's the CC Bexley reliability ride I'm planning on doing.
Although in a senior moment Alan has sent the Sport Ident invoice instead of the flyer.
Can you send the flyer Huw?

Hi. My local bike shop (Ross Cycles, Caterham) said he'd put a Sportive flyer up. I could also ask some other bike shops in this area if someone can pass a bunch of flyers to me.
Lucy.

In case the pm doesn't arrive Ok. What I said is Huw has the flyers and lives and works in Croydon. Maybe there is a time and place you could conveniently meet up? Or else send me your address and I'll ask him to post them. If you send me your email address I could also send the PDF file if it helps. Many thanks. Alan
