Somebody please enlighten me. If everyone else was taking PED of some kind, be they synthetic, natural, spun out from their own blood or whatever, and LA was also E'ing his P in the same way, then what's the problem? Either he rode clean, which until proved otherwise we must accept, and was still better than every other doped up cheating drug-monkey in the peloton...OR he was better than everyone else anyway and simply maintained his relative edge over his doped up rivals by using the same PEDs as they did. Either way WGAF?

Paul Kimmage "I spent 7 hours with Floyd Landis....for him to make that up he'd have to be a psychopath"

This has yet to be disproved

Well you could argue I'm one myself as I munched paracetomol and ibuprofen all the way round the Dragon Ride last year, London to Paris and the Pearson 150. You could argue they were PEDs as they kept me on the bike instead of crying like a baby by the side of the road.

As for Kimmage, if that whiner ever got a puncture he'd blame it on a needle falling out of someone's arse.

here we go again, same different day, landis and his coach accused of hacking, obviously a crook, landis is my eyes is pretty unscrupulous, and has no issue in breaking international laws, so not the first time, and on 2 unrelated and totally different counts

i've always said don't believe the tabloids, they'll do anything for a story and to sell newspapers / magazines and the like, innocent until proven guilty in my book...

the SI article never actually accuses or alleges if you read a bit closer, so where has this story come from and is going???

Popovych's lawyer, Ken Miller, has confirmed the cyclist will be appearing before the federal panel in Los Angeles, but gave no further details.
The 30-year-old Ukrainian cyclist has been a rider on three Armstrong teams since 2005, when they both rode for Discovery Channel.
Federal prosecutors have called several associates of Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, in recent weeks.
Allen Lim, an exercise physiologist for Lance Armstrong's RadioShack, appeared before the grand jury, as did Stephanie McIlvain, a long-time friend of Armstrong.
McIlvain's lawyer said she told jurors she never heard Armstrong admit taking banned performance-enhancing substances.

Landis and Baker are subject to an international arrest warrant and stand charged of "fraudulently breaking into a computer system", according to lawyer Frederik-Karel Canoy, who is acting on the behalf of the Vivendi media company.
Both Landis and Baker are suspected of illegally obtaining documentation from the French Anti-Doping Laboratory (LNDD) in a bid to contest the American rider's positive test results from stage 16 of the 2006 Tour de France.
Landis spent four years, and millions of dollars, in a bid to prove he never cheated to win the world's biggest bike race.
Earlier this year he finally confessed, though in explosive fashion - alleging that he and many other former teammates, including Lance Armstrong, had systematically doped for years.

By Brendan Gallager 9:54AM GMT 21 Jan 2011
Armstrong is the subject of a federal investigation in the United States after allegations of doping levelled by disgraced former teammate Floyd Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title for using illegal substances.
A report by Sports Illustrated magazine, published this week, offered new evidence that claims to substantiate Landis' accusations.
However, Armstrong tweeted: "Great to hear that @usada is investigating some of @si's (Sports Illustrated's) claims. I look forward to being vindicated."
An upbeat Armstrong also received unexpected support from the respected medical researcher Robert Przybelski, who is quoted in the SI article on the subject of Armstrong's possible access to the hard-to-detect blood boosting drug HemAssist in the late 90s.
While the SI report, which catalogues the various allegations made against Armstrong historically and in recent years, never alleges Armstrong actually used the drug, it does quote Przybelski as saying a drug like HemAssist would be an ideal product to replace EPO - one that could have the same boost without the negative side-effects of blood thickening and strokes.

Lance Armstrong confident of being vindicated over Sports Illustrated claims
Lance Armstrong has welcomed reports that the US Anti Doping Authority (USADA) are considering investigatiing claims made in Sports Illustrated that have focused the doping spotlight on the Tour de France legend once again.

Don't be such a baby. I always play the ball, not the man. And I wouldn't want to see a fellow Agreeable extradited to Texas for a libel suit.
"Welcome to Texas?" are not words you want to hear from some judge in Austin
Man up and post what you like.

I wonder if this would have been better for Lance if he had stayed out of the sport when he retired ? his comeback seems like a very bad decision now.. We will have to see how the special investigation turns out - if they put Hincapie in the witness box I think it will all fall apart.. Mind you - Lance's team will say he lacks all credibility as well

one thing though (re a post from Marco way up above), - you cannot compare the stuff that Merckx & Kelly might have dabbled in to the epo generation, totally different league/ performance benefits ... Merckx is still the best cyclist ever - imo.. maybe the best athlete of the last century - he certainly dominated the sport like no other..

Hincapie fessed up in the trial and there are now reports of his confession to the '60 minutes' show in the US!

That's the tipping point if you ask me.

Also re the difference in drug eras. I just finished Fignon's book, which is superb, he speaks about the difference in taking amphetamines which do enable you to ignore the pain and keep going at your best (if you are lucky) and then the EPO and HGH days which basically enable the less than average rider to surpass their natural abilities and beat the big boys.

Lance is due to compete in some pretty big Triathlon and Ironman (inc Kona) this year.
Maybe he will rethink.

If, as convicted drug cheat Tyler Hamilton claims, everyone was doing drugs, and if, as he also claims, LA took them also, yet still managed to beat all the other (allegedly) doped up drug monkeys in the peloton, then what's the problem? His seven Tour wins would just be slightly less impressive than if he had beaten everyone clean.
But, as he tweeted - 500 tests and not one positive. As any biologist will tell you, theirs is not an exact science like physics and their tests are subject to margins of statistical error.
