Does anyone know a telephone engineer please? I need some wiring done and, at the moment, my home phone's dead. Thanks.

You don't need an Engineer. You need a technician.

Engineers design and create. Technicians install and maintain.

It's like asking for a surgeon because you need a blood sample taking.

Grahame, thank you for your useful advice. Now, does anyone know a good pedant?

Or asking a urologist if you need to take the pi$$?

Sorry Pete, I'm no help either.

Is it definitely a wiring problem and not the phone? Modern ones have a very short lifespan.

No, the wiring was messed up when the windows were replaced, BT did send an engineer ( at least that's what they call them on their website) a year or so ago and did a bodge but warned that the job needed to be done properly. The line has been fuzzy for a week and is now just dead.

Hmm, dunno then. But if your car needs fixing perhaps ask Grahame again. As I recall, my Mech Eng chums at uni always liked being asked that

If you need a 100km fibre-optic cable and a satellite back-up link from an offshore gas platform to the beach I know just the man.
