Hoy as second man?

Postby the other Steve Dennis » Thu Mar 24, 2011 10:47 pm

Can someone tell me why Hoy is now racing the team sprint as second man?
I know he has lost some of his 'sprint speed' as he is concentrating on the Keirin - is that it? Though if he can keep winding it up for a keirin and still speed away why isn't he suited for third anymore -c'mon its the glory position.

ANy explanations for the desired abilities of the 3 different positions?
This may have been explained by the Beeb but we have been watching without sound - no tv at home so it gets a bit grating when we do have access to a tv. - lol!

Cheers

Nope don't understand it either as I'd have thought he made a better 3rd man at the moment as he seems to have the best sustained power engine. 1st off needs to be very powerful but also smooth or the delivery is a bit too choppy, this is why Shanaze is not a definate for the women as rding BMX she has a more choppy action that a trackie and says she's continuing with BMX in tandem with track. Yesterday's race VP was delivered much smoother for her lap, need more speed from the number one though.

They seem to have dropped Kenny out completely now, something to do with him being too skinny apparantly so that he didn't carve a big enough hole. He seemed an ideal 2nd rider though so it must have been a big problem his smaller size...not that it ever seemed to be before when they were winning.
