Just Andrew, Rob and myself were riding the Bletchingly 21 mile tt this morning. Its got to be one of the hilliest sporting courses and a real lung testing early season show of form.
All us Agreeables were all clustered fairly close together and I had 3 mins to catch Andrew and 5 for Robert.
After a lung opener up the hill for a quick test warm up i was ready for the off. Straight into a long drag climbing up through Bletchingly high street where I passed Geraldine.
Starting as no. 10 I knew that with a bit of effort I possibly could finish first man on the road, was reeling in the riders infront then after Outwood on that nasty little drag I took Andrew and a few minutes later passed Robert stuck in the wrong gear going up Outwood lane near the chequred flag on the first lap, but we still had another one to go.
I was feeling good and not too stressed, I have felt as though I have suffered big time around this course in the previous years but today seemed a breeze.
Up Scotts hill and passed Geoff Smith, Eastbourne Rovers so was leader on the road. Really pushed as hard as I could up the final climb to the finish where tons of Redhill CC supporters were spectating, they didn't give me too much encouragement as they didn't want me to beat their Redhill riders

Over the line and rolled on to thank Snoop and Joyce for marshalling on the corner by the pub, then had a nice cool down spin to Godstone and back. Well done to Andrew for gaining a minute back from the timekeeper at the finish to enable him to do a splendid sub hour ride :D

Robert Royle-Evatt Addiscombe CC 1.02.09
Andrew Green Addiscombe CC 59.58
George Brent Addiscombe CC 52.46 2nd
Rupert Burbidge Redhill CC 51.51 winner

Well happy with my time 3 mins faster than last year and 2 minutes faster than 2009 :D

'Twas good to see Joyce and Snoop this morning helping out with the marshalling, also nice to get back inside a pointy hat :D .

First time on the TT bike since mid October and it felt like slipping into a comfy pair of slippers. My course pb on this was 1.01.32 and I'd have been happy to be in the same ballpark but my big aim for this course is to get under the hour.

Started number 7 and up the drag through Bletchingley and was in to my stride quickly. Down the hill and picked up 4 then on to the very grotty bottom turn and back up the hills. Picked up Robin (Brighton Mitre and organiser extrordinaire) (2) on the approach to Scotts Hill and then Maria from Redhill (1) at the top. I was keeping the power down well and going nice and smoothly, very pleased with the way I was going and knew I was on for a good time.

I picked up Bryn from Anerley (3) and was caught by George, bit dissapointed to see George as I'd hoped to hold him off for the first lap. However I could see he was flying and had a glance down at my computer which comfirmed I wasn't going slowly, he was flying.

On to lap 2 and I picked up a couple of people who were later starters and on their first lap, and caught a glimpse of Rob in the distance. Pushed on and went round the bottom turn and on to the hills again. I saw Rob up ahead and was closing quite quickly as Scotts Hill kicked, couldn't quite get there and over the brow he had the power down again and held the gap until Outwood and I managed to nip past on the bends on the little descent.

On the middle lump Rob came back at me and got infront but I managed to keep my speed and get back in front before the top. I then really drove it along to the final hill, didn't want him coming back at me again  , and really pushed it up the hill. Caught the time on the hill and knew I might just nip under so really buried myself.

I was a tad surprised when my time initially went up as 1.00.58 but I knew it was wrong and as Rob had started 2mins ahead of me but was only on the results 1min and a bit behind it was fairly easily sorted out. The only time I've ever had a discrepancy with a time but I wasn't going to leave it having killed myself to get that 59 :D.

Nice to get back on the TT bike and then went for a nice spin to Hever and back in the sun when I got home. What a lovely Sunday.

Apart from a break last year Joyce and I have stood on the Albert pub/A25 corner at this event for a few years now. When I was TTing I never wanted to ride this course, it's a stinker! Today it was chilly, still and the sun was trying to peek through the morning cloud. All three ACC guys looked good on the first pass up the hill, George in particular was very smooth. We knew he was doing well by the position on the road when he passed us again at around half distance. And he was flying! Great to see him looking a bit cooked at the finish, a good sign of a good time

Andrew and Rob came past a little later and Andrew was spent. I'm so chuffed you got under the hour Andrew - a cracking ride.

I enjoy watching folks suffer on this one - but I didn't hang about after our guys came through it was still pretty brrrr after standing about for an hour or so. Well done all three of you, what a tough ride!

Cheers - Snoop
