SCCU 25 17/4

Postby Andrew G » Sun Apr 17, 2011 12:29 pm

Lots of Addiscombe out this morning for the SCCU 25 on the changed course, the same we'll use next week for our event which is A24 and A29 based.

First time I've ridden this course and apart from a bit of rough road surface in a couple of places I enjoyed it, bit slower than the usual one we use in Horsham but a nice course.

I had a pretty good ride starting well enough up the A24 drag heading north, absolutely loved the A29 blast catching 3 people along here. It's a nice road for having a fast run down and today there was plenty of stick it in 11 and spank it :D .

Turned and looped around the back of the HQ and then down the slip road , slingshot the first roundabout and then back up the slip road for the usual trip to Southwater and back where I caught a couple more people. I was caught by Rupert from Redhill at the line which was a bit annoying as he slid past and got to the flag before me by a bike length, I said to him couldn't you give me a few yards  , he was chasing a PB though so no chance of him coasting to the line.

Good ride by Lucy in her first 25, and a very profitable morning as she scooped 1st on handicap, 1st lady on handicap, and 2nd fastest lady :D . Well done but that's prize money from both the TTs you've done now, I'll warn you they won't keep throwing money at you  .

Good rides by Phil and Ian both getting PBs :D .

Amazing ride by George not far off what his PB was 2 days ago, and to clock a 56 with yesterday's ride in his legs is stunning 8) .

Addiscombe:
Lucy Ashdown-Parkes 1.10.56
Robert Royle-Evatt 1.03.07
Ian Munnery 1.06.30
George Brent 56.24
Dominic Lowe 1.00.25
Andrew Green 1.01.50
Phil Hawkes 1.05.23
Paul Tunnell 1.05.06
Jon Hemming 1.03.09

(1-1 now Jon :D )

Steve Dennis won with a storming 51.51 and Rupert Burbidge was 2nd (after getting his wheel in front of mine at the line :) ) with a PB 53.49. George got 7th on scratch, well done that man.

I liked the course - better scenery than the /53 and doesn't have that appalling drag up to Tollgate.

Completely died with about quarter of a mile to go. Better than completely dying with 15 miles to go like 2 weeks ago.

I was going to mention that, although he set out before me, I did catch Rupert from Redhill and pass him. And that was before I even got to the start.

Well done folks - especially Phil and Ian. Phil - that's not an appalling drag up to Tollgate - that's where you're supposed to rest a bit

Wot Phil said.

The course was ok, I thought at first $h1t, I could do with a course I know for my first TT in 3 years-Been resting dontcha know?
I spoke to George at HQ before we left and I said you'll get me before the DC section, he can easily put 10/12 mins into me, sure enough he caught me about 200 yards before
I felt reasonably ok thru out the ride- a sure sign of under performing, but hey I've got to put a marker down somewhere.
A PB as it's the first time around that course

In all I'm about 25/30 watts down on my last TT- and I wasn't trying too hard at that one either :)

In all I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next one
