VC Elan - any knowledge?

A friend of a friend who lives in the Erith area is on the lookout for a cycling club to join.

Obviously, I've plugged Addiscombe as the finest of a fine bunch of clubs in South London, but he want's to know something/anything about VC Elan.

So does anybody know anything about them - good, bad or indifferent. It's all knowledge and will all help this momentous decision.

I've known Paul Meopham for many years, and he owns Harry Perry cycles who sponsor (?still) the VC Elan.

They are a very traditional club (a la ACC). They promote a lot of TT's and cyclo cross, but are not that into road racing.

The guys I have met are all friendly and welcoming.

VC Elan is a Kent based racing club sponsered by Harry Perry cycles in Woolwich, and has 74 members of which 68 ride or race regularly.We are far from a traditional cycling club as someone has commented,we do not have a clubroom, but we do have club meetings about 4 times a year ,we comunicate by e-mail and telephone.
During the winter months we have a club ride about 60 miles non stop we meet at Footscray.
We also have 3 weekly rides, Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays riding between 40 and 70 miles meeting at Hawley 9.30 Mon and Fri Wed start is 9.00.
We also have a dedicated spin class at Erith sports centre, held during the winter months .
This is mainly the members in the south east London .
We have another large section of riders in the Thanet area Who ride on Sundays and Wednesdays during the non-racing season.
We are a successfull racing club , which includes time trials-road and circuit road racing. If anyone is interested in finding out more about the Elan just look at our website

If you have any female friends in that area looking for a club you could get them to try VC Elan.
They have affiliated to the London Women's League and there is one girl there who is new to racing who has been getting out on the the local circuits.
She would be glad to have more team mates.
