thanks Marek

I managed to bag 3 points for 7th.

so here goes. I have had the flu all week and was up Thursday and last night coughing. coughing so much that the only way i managed to get to sleep was through complete exhaustion. No excusses though.

I am really up for this season and really hungry to get to 3rd Cat ASAP. the race stated off and although i was still coughing at the start line I went straight in a break after half a lap with two guys from economic energy(bit optimistic) we managed to stay away for about 4 laps and then it all came back together.

there were two primes in the race and I decided not to go for either as i wanted points  . One rider won both of the primes so i decided i was going to stick to his wheel on the last lap. and stick i did. on the last lap a rider from dynamo made a great leap just before the first corner. i was about 5 riders back and thought that he would tire but he didn't!! the last lap was a bit messey with people shouting and pulling on the breaks.

so anyway i had the wheel of the almost certain second place.. all i can say is wrong wheel, wrong side of the track.. i managed to sprint past him but 5 other riders had already gone from the other side.

was a bit dissapointed in the end because i feel i could have got top 3. next time i think i should have the confidence to ride off the front or attack first and not sit and wait for a move.. any advice for a sprint on the crits!??

good day overall... next time hey

i am off skiing next week but hoping to get down the week after.. anyone else fancy a go!?

My advice on the sprint for what it is worth is sit about third man back and hold when they sprint you sprint and just go for it. Hopefully they will weaken a bit and you will get around and win, mind you depends on space, how good the guy behind you is etc etc. There is no winning formula for sprinting you just need to be good at it and lucky.

You are good enough you just need to get lucky.

Excellent that you got some points only a few more to go and you will be racing with the 3rd cats. Then you will get a lead out train in yellow so you won't need to worry you will have wins in the bag every race, well maybe.

Cheers

Hey well done Tim thats brilliant mate!. You've got points on the board already. I spoke to the guy who came second in the race, Graham and he said the pace of todays training race was faster than the 4th cat race yesterday. You'll be a 3rd cat in no time and with your sprinting ability possibly 2nd cat by the end of the season. Roll on Crystal Palace :)

Personally, I would launch an attack off the front after lap three and stay away. Hey, but that's not for everyone. Congratulations on the points !

Ajay you suffer agoraphobia if you get near the front of the bunch - goodness only knows what you'd be like if you ever found yourself in a break :D

The only way Ajay's gonna get in a break is if he takes a wrong turning.

the only break Ajay is going to get himself into is one that involves a Kit Kat.

Hey guys whatever happened to the gentle art of the cyclists afternoon day dream! Shattered  Obviously, I am never never going to get a break from the likes of you ladies and gentlemen. :!: I just hope you can all back up your cusses with your bike riding ! Ninder will back me up when I say that we launched a few handy attacks on the club run 17mph group with our new tandem. The regular group was left in pieces as they all tried chasing us down. And amazingly enough amongst our chief wheelsuckers was Tamar Collis :D

Easy enough to launch an attack when there's two of you doing the pedalling huh?

I had my feet up on the handlebars drinking beers! If I had been pedalling we'd have taken off into orbit somewhere high above the Merstham stratosphere ! You'd have to suck on vapour trail ! 8)
