SL Handicap - South Nutfield - 5th May

Nice to see plenty of Addiscombe riders out at tonight's handicap race, plus lots of supporters :D

Is there anything that anyone else wants to add? ;-)

I really enjoyed it, was great to see so many ACC out and although I found the pace quite tough it was great fun. I will wait until someone else has written their write up before I add my tuppence on the action.

Cheers

Marek....

Good, hard fun, and amazing to see so many Addiscombe riders and supporters.

I went to congratulate the winner .. but then they ran away!

Did anyone actually check the winner had a racing licence?

I was trying to remember how many ACC riders we had racing last night...

    me
    Marek
    Sylv
    Darren
    Andy
    Serge
    Nick
    Rob
    The Shadow
    Paul

I'm sure I'm missing one other, but I don't recall seeing any other ACC rider during the race.....

Adam was there, he used to be in Addiscombe.

But that can't be him, surely you couldn't miss the pink?

Okay you impatient lot…….. 2nd road race, 1st win and I have still got a grin from ear to ear! After getting bullied into racing at Millbrook on Monday by Becks and Kate I have been bitten by the bug. With so many of you heading down to the race I finally brought my race licence yesterday morning, so yes I did have a licence and it was all legit!

Luckily for me I ended up in the first group off, but it was not long before we were caught and, Steve and Andy came past me like a train so I quickly jumped on the back wheel. There were a few other lads willing to do a bit of work but we could not get a smooth through and off going so we all bunched up along Cooper’s Hill Road. When we got to the hill Jim Burdett put an attack in and I managed to find some space to get out the bunch and go with him. We put the hammer down and the two of us shared the work to try and get a gap on the others, when we finally looked back we had two other lads with us but the rest were out of sight. We started to all work together in order to try and stay away and managed to carry this on right to the end where I found myself in the ideal position right behind Jim. On the final corner I came off the back of his wheel and buried myself to the line, fortunately I had enough in my legs to win the sprint.

A big thanks to the training group for all the savage rides that you have dished out over the last couple of years!

Great win Matt and by quite a good margin as you crossed the line a clear winner. Stood there with your other half both peering through the darkness to see if it was you appearing out of the gloom

Well done to everyone else who raced, some good results last night, was awesome seeing so much yellow racing and shouting you all on. Great stuff.
